I bought the primary bypass for my 964 and the quality seems excellent. Shipping was quick as well.
My primary bypass is the newer 2 piece version which will help with the install.

Many friends have bought items from Fabspeed for 964's, 993's, 996's and 964T... < They were happy as well.............

They are a bit expensive though.

They also give sound samples for many of their exhausts on their web site.

Overall excellent shopping experience, service, and quality.

I had a 1992 C2 and tried that route. My suggestion, try the exhaust first without the chip. To me the chip made the car feel rougher when revving and did not add any noticeable power increase. I did not time it or use a dyno. In fact, on a long trip I pulled over at a rest area and removed the chip. The car drove much nicer without it.

As for the exhaust, it is very loud, more like Harley or Vette, and you hear less fan. It is fun, but sounds less like a Porsche.

As for removing the cat, you will smell raw gas in your garage when starting your car and so will the people following you. The smell gave me a headache, but many people like it.

Skip the airbox. It just sounds silly, like flipping the air cleaner lid over on an Oldsmobile so that you can hear the Quadrajet!

Sorry to be so negative, but you asked for opinions.

The FABSPEED exhaust is very well made and looks great!

I purchased my 993 w/FABSPEED exhaust, chip and air intake already installed. Couldn't be more pleased w/all three. Would buy them if they weren't installed. Serious sounds! Even my wife (an enthusiast also) loves it. Very authoritative but not obnoxious. Only minor issue: At start-up, I hear a minor metallic vibration which goes away when the system heats up. BTW, you're right down the road from me. Do you know Marty w/the yellow GT3?

The 964 and 993 cat bypass are two very different things

On the 993 the bypass sounds great w/ stock mufflers but is too loud w/ modified mufflers.

Rattling tin is often found in older or modified mufflers. The bypass itself is very solid ss pipe, nothing to rattle except perhaps where the l/r side pass each other. There should be a clearance gap at that point. IF you don't have one adjust the pipes.

If you don't want to spend much money on the swap and get the same performance gains/sound of the primary/secondary muffler bypass (without the raspy hollow harshness), cut the exhaust after the cat, before the primary muffler, 'turn down' the 90* so it's facing the ground (just loosen the clamp on the cat outlet).

I did this on my 1990 964 C2 with a chip and intake mod. It sounds GREAT! A little loud for some, and i felt a noticable gain on the top end, but felt like i lost a few on the torquey end.

Just fill in the exhaust outlet by hanging the stock tip.

Cheers.

Interesting reading.

I'm considering a '95 993 C2 (some of you may have heard about my SC being total'd by a drunk Harley rider in a head-on collision). Once the insurance settles for my SC, I'm hoping to get a 993 C2 (looking at '95 because of the easier exhaust mods). Sounds like the cat bypass is the way to go since I don't have sniff tests around here (when I lost the cat and stock exchangers on the SC and went to SSIs and M&K I couldn't believe the difference. I'm sure the Fabspeed or other similar mods won't make THAT much difference on a '95 C2 but it sounds worth doing for SOME HP increase and better sound.

I'll be bugging you guys if I can do this. Looking at an Ocean Blue with tan tomorrow, then possibly a silver with grey. 993s are SO gorgeous I'll be very happy I'm sure (I've had a '02 C4S and the '83 SC (RIP). I would like the 3rd time to be the charm.

Thanks
