I'm betting he got his numbers mixed up and meant a 912.

This car wasn't made until 1969. But man it would be sweet with a Flat 12 and 1100 bhp!

Maybe it is a 917 lazer kit car. More likely than a real 917.

I'd be very surprised if there was a 917 unaccounted for.

4 lug wheels suggests that your looking at a VW chassis with a body kit.

Projects like this one could cost huge sums to finish nicely but if you like it, go for it.
Remeber, that this car could be $10,000 away from being a $5000 car.

It's a Laser kit-car. I've seen a few, and pictures of a few more. A 917-esque body on a Bug floorpan and mechanicals.

Good thing it's not real. A proper engine would have set you back about $400,000 !

I don't know about you guys, but even though I assumed after reading his first post that it was a Lazer kit, there was a teeny-tiny little part of me that said "Damn, what if there really is some "in the barn 917" that no one knows about for some ridiculous price and IT'S NOT ME finding it."
