Recommend a shipper

I need to have a car shipped from Bloomington, Indiana to N.E. Pennsylvania. First time having this done. I know some shippers work different parts of the country. I was hoping to have the car picked up this week. Can anyone recommend a shipper that uses a smaller enclosed trailer? The roads are kinda narrow up where I live so I just want to make sure they can get to me without any issues.

Try a broker instead of a transport company. The broker can put that specific request into the system for you, they’ll usually be cheaper for the most part too.

If you’d like to try another, here’s a broker I’ve used a few times, all with good results and priced right as well. Gary at Cobalt Logistics 954) 599-6768. He’s made some moves look easy and cheap that would’ve been quite difficult and more costly going with a transport company.

I've never shipped a car, but I've read a lot of stories on the forums.
Do some reading via Google.

It seems like you get what you pay for.

Some movers are shady.
They change the price and not release the car.

Some brokers are just middlemen.

Some jerk you around with delays, trying to combine fares like a taxi.

If you want "white glove" and zero BS
it seems safer to use the big 2.

These guys were the exclusive shipper when I was at Pebble Beach

At least get a quote from these and see if the discount is worth the added risk.

All brokers are middlemen sugar, that’s what they do, they broker out the work to independent carriers/drivers. And no, they don’t change the price mid move, they can’t do so as there’s a signed contract with the broker that has the price on it.

It can turn into a bigger hassle using a transport company than a broker sometimes, which is why I eventually started using a broker. Brokers aren’t all good, but neither are all transport companies. Which is no different than any other biz.

The one thing I've read over and over is to never use a broker. Uship horror stories. Delays, damages, extortion, etc. If you have a decent car, with real money involved, I would Stick to dealing directly with a transport company who has a reputation to lose. If shipping a Civic, then roll the dice

Then you stick with a transport company sugar. Nobody recommended Uship here, not me, not the others. The op was asking for shipping advice, and you clearly stated you’ve never shipped a car before, which seems to remove you from being able to opine on the matter. So other than trolling me again, and picking the opposite side of whatever it is I comment on simply for arguments sake, there isn’t any other reason for you to be here - in this thread. Your lurking and following me around this forum when it’s so clear there was never any reason for you to click on this thread in the first place, just continues to prove to everyone that you’re the marketplace troll that others have accused you of. Don’t you have anything better to do than to muck up every thread I post on?

To the op, I’ve shipped many cars over the years, so take my advice for what it’s worth, that’s your call. I wouldn’t have given it if it didn’t have enough experience to be doing so. I’m sorry I brought my troll into this discussion, he follows me everywhere I go. Thankfully though it’s only online. I wish you luck with your move.

What’s the you two?!? This schmuck follows me everywhere. This isn’t my doing. I’ve used both transport companies and brokers to ship cars many times over the years, probably more than most, which is why I lent my knowledge to this thread. The troll admittedly has never once shipped a car in his life, yet he posts in a thread asking for shipping advice. Really? Seriously? Wtf.

And you say you two...the problem is singular. Sugar had zero intention of providing any useful advice since he has none on this subject, it was simply to light up another thread and derail it. Which is what he has now done yet again, ironically it seems to be his only real expertise in any area.

I’ve never shipped a car but... expert advice right there.

I’ve got a broker I use based here in Colorado. 3 cars and he’s never let me down.

2/3 of the time, Angels Moving Autos has come through for me -- and people I've referred to them.

BUT 1. They are brokers and have minimal control over the drivers [who are the low bidders on the job] and 2. You have no recourse with them [or any broker] for slipped dates.

Sorry techweenie this time i disagree, with the brokers its a roll of the dice.

As i just had a bad experience with Angels Moving Autos, after all they are brokers and have ltd control in my case over the cowboys. I fell for the Rennlist plug.

Shipping is one of those things where I'd gladly pay the premium to go with a reputable, major company such as Intercity or Reliable (TFX for us Canadians).

No amount of savings is worth the stress of wondering when/where your car is for weeks on end, fearing it's being joyridden, or having it held hostage.

Apparently some of you ripping on brokers haven't used a broker before. I guarantee you there is nothing held hostage or joy ridden. That's utterly ridiculous. If you don't have concrete evidence of these supposed horror stories, maybe don't be sharing them on a forum. They can be just as easy if not easier to work with, and almost all of the time at a discount too. I used to strictly use transport companies due to all of these bad raps put on brokers, but switching of late to a broker because no transport companies could fill one of my requests. Yes, brokers have way more flexibility. And nothing went wrong with that move. I've been using brokers ever since. As long as you are clear with what you want and that gets entered into their system, which goes out to the independent carriers that bid on it, it should be a smooth transaction.

Unless you're moving a Bugatti, or the likes, there is no reason not to shop around.
