That’s the car in the link I shared earlier. George offers a pretty good explanation why he thinks it sold where it did. I still think it sold about $10k too high.
I’d be game for a driver 930 around $40k. I don’t need anything perfect.

Some will disagree, but I think this is a good car for a good price.
This car would have been listed for $125k -$140k three/four years ago. A good indicator of the fall 930s have taken; IMO. https://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-cars-sale/1029929-1979-porsche-911-turbo-55k-original-miles.html And if anyone is serious about this car it's local to me. I don't know the owner but would be willing to give it a good shakedown...

For anyone here seriously shopping for a 930, I have one to sell: 79 with 62K miles. Some minor performance mods. Color changed from Bitter Chocolate to Guards Red. Full chocolate leather interior with Sport Seats. Extremely nice condition. PM for more info.

The ruby red '84 bid to $37K on BaT, is on Craigslist as well with an ask of $44K.
The market has spoken decisively on that one. Seller needs a reality check. Also isn't it bad practice to have a car on BaT and also have it for sale elsewhere? |

Yep, The seller must think the color is special.
I know a shop that would do a quick scuff and spray for $4k and have that car looking like a $50k car in a week. It's never going to bring good money with sunburned paint.

Sounds like a flip gone bad. The seller purchased less than a year ago. Probably got it dirt cheap and figured $1-2K to polish it up for BaT, KA-CHING. But the $1-2K turned into $10K upon closer inspection. And now he wants someone else to pay him back the $10K.
Maybe if he gets the $4K paint job, someone might do just that. I also loved the comments from people saying don't paint it, it looks perfect just the way it is. Uhm no it looks like **** the way it is. Yeah, driver cars aren't perfect. But there's a big gap between not perfect and paint peeling all over the place. But the seller figured none of this matters, someone will throw suitcases full of money at me...cuz AIR COOLED!! Last edited by Vaive; 05-24-2019 at 09:02 AM.. |

Quick perusal of SF and nearby Craigslist right now:
'86 Coupe,196K miles $30K '88 Targa, 139K miles $32K '82 Coupe, 137K miles, $42K '79 Targa, 200K miles, $29K '80 Coupe, no miles given, $35K '84 Targa, 250K miles $25K '76 Coupe, 94K miles, $34K '75 Targa, 110K miles, $35K That's a lot of supply at relatively low prices. Makes it hard to justify paying $50K plus for one. Even if the condition isn't great on these, buy one for $28-30K (those are asking prices after all, not what you will pay), put in $15K and it's as good as the one for $50K on BaT, if not better. And you know for sure what work was done, without having to rely on "seller claims xyz was done in year 20??" and some pictures. |

There are exceptions. When the finished product far exceeds any relationship to the starting point except for the tub...... (sorry if this was covered).
