Okay I got it. Ignore the countries who don't jive with the story you believe.
Have a great day! |

You want to take issue with what percentage of the world’s cases we have? I say it doesn’t really matter. There are 220k Americans dead. 7 million Americans, including me, have had this thing. This is what matters, not that China lied or any of that. |

This is where I come from in my condemnation of the Trump White House. It’s not something CNN gave me as an implant. And before you start railing on NPR, it was the first google result for the letter. The content of the letter and the ideas behind it are what matter. Don’t be like maninblack, attacking the url while ignore the point. That’s also beneath your intelligence.

I am just going to apologize for getting into this conversation, not for my comments but for letting myself get pulled down this rabbit hole. It was not my intention to offend anyone. I don't care who you support or vote for. I say that honestly and sincerely. I really don't care who anyone supports. I don't support either of these candidates. I find both of them fatally flawed. Over the last four decades I have voted for candidates from both parties. I have a photo of President Clinton and I shaking hands which I proudly display in my office, right next to the photo of Reagan which he personally signed to me (okay I paid for the Reagan photo and I was lucky enough to find one that was made out to someone else with my first name, but the pic of Clinton and I is legit). More than my beef with the two pathetic candidates its my disdain for the media who have no vested interest in reporting anything at all legitimately. Therefore they don't. So yea, NPR CNN FOX NYT WSJ and all of the rest have a narrative they push and they dont let the facts get in the way of what they want to say. From the day that ALL of them sold out to the all mighty dollar above the facts and truth, none of them have been worth the paper they're printed on or the screen time they appear on. I say as a 30 year subscriber to the NYT and longer to the WSJ both of which I still get and read. So lets not be naïve and believe that some large number of Americans wouldn't have died from Covid no matter who was in charge. At the same time lets understand that the the "other candidate" mocked the President when he shut down the boarders for people coming from China so he had no clue back in Feb and March either. Its very easy for us to sit here in October and point fingers at what was done wrong. Who was standing up in Jan/Feb/March screaming something else? Lets also understand that death from Covid in this country has a very very liberal standard and that standard is not the same in any other country. We don't know what the standard is in other countries, so comparing our percentages to them is pointless. My wife (to be) is a Med Mal attorney, she just reviewed a wrongful death case related to telemedicine. Covid was the tertiary cause listed on the death cert. It was counted as a Covid death. Forget the other diseases which the patient had been fighting a losing battle with for 2 years. Forgt they were near death and in hospice since last November. So when these media outlets and politicians on both sides of the isle toss around numbers, for me personally I don't care what they have to say. Its MY opinion they're driving their own narrative. As I said, if you choose not to believe that, that's perfectly fine with me. It does not make you wrong or me correct it just makes out beliefs different. On a more important note. I am wrestling with the question of selling both of my 88 coupes. I feel like I maybe want something a little more modern. Maybe I am just getting old. The idea of a 997.2 manual or 997 GT3 is appealing to me. Thoughts? |
Trader, I'll bite on the sale of the 88 coupes and the 997/GT3 purchases.
I've owned 996's, 997's and a 997TT, all manuals, plus a half dozen or more air cooled 911's and 912's. Do you like apples or oranges, cause that's about the size of it. It eventually came down to usage and practicality for me. I don't NEED any of these cars. I don't work anymore, so I don't NEED a DD. My cars bring me around town and occasionally a small trip. I don't need a modern car because we use the wife's SUV for travel or socializing, I felt the modern Porsches were being wasted on me. They're SO capable, it makes driving them on the street ludicrous. You can't have any fun driving a modern 911 on the street; they're too fast. You can still have loads of fun with an air cooled. So I finally sold my 500HP 997 Turbo. I kept a few 911's and a BMW 2002; a fuel injected 4 cylinder, 130 HP. That car is a blast to drive. If I was to buy another air cooled, I'd buy a hopped up 912. So there you have it. Keep one of your 88's. |

1988 911 Coupe 1988 911 Coupe 2005 Lexus LX470 2005 Audi Allroad 2014 Benz e250 4matic 2017 BMW X3 2018 Benz SLC AMG Roadster The SLC is a lease that my soon to be wife drives, its over in 4 months The X3 was my wife's winter car The Lexus has been my go to sort of DD do it all tank The Allroad is a project that I swapped in steel springs and have been working on and upgrading for a year. Its on the road with 115k miles and its not quite ready for me to sell off. The E250 I just bought last week literally every single option they offered in the 2014 to 2016 E 250. Since my son and I moved up to our farm full time I have to take him to school a few times a week, 90 miles round trip. The e250 is a pleasure on the highway and gets 40 mpg. I've owned about 30 air cooled 911's / 930's over the last 30 years. I don't need to have two for sure and I don't really drive them much. One has 40k the other 70k. The 40k car is bone stock down to every nut and bolt and the AC works well. The 70k car, I rebuilt the suspension, upgraded the suspension, lowered it, running 17" Fuchs style wheels. Super nice car but not as perfect as the other, AC does not work but I have a complete Griffiths system waiting to go in, with wheel well condensers, lines, valve, dryer and new compressor. I was thinking about something I could drive guilt free and the AC works etc etc. Thought about an Evora too. I just dont want a car that's going to be worth 1/2 what I pay in 5 years. I am equally as sure I'll miss having an air cooled 911. Higher miles 993 coupe may be the compromise. eh whatever. |

You mentioned you're getting old. You have too many cars. I'm trying to get down to 5. 4 would be better. Good luck! LOL. |

Ymmv and all that... So long as we aren’t beating dogs or talking gay stuff I’d be fine with a few words about cars. |

I think the choices are the lesser of two evils. Kamala was the nail in the coffin for me. She should be nowhere near a position in the White House. The Monday morning QB blame game on the handling and timing of actions combined with Kamala blaming the state of the economy on Trump instead of the COVID situation is pathetic. The money paid to hospitals for COVID deaths. What better way to get false numbers than offer cash for them. I don’t have a lot of experience with different cars. But I got a 997.1 GT3 about 9 moths ago and it’s pretty darn fun. The wife likes taking it out more than the 930. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
like I said. Marketplace. Not fuxking politics. I can get that **** at home.

I own being a bit reactive. I’m just sick of people projecting their crap onto whomever they perceive as the other side. You want to join the conversation? Cool, then do it. Not this BS assertion that I’m some brainwashed fool regurgitating some media contrived position. If he took 30 seconds to actually talk about things, he would have understood that I agree with almost everything he said, including the concerns about media bias. But instead he lead with drive by digs. Nobody gains a better understanding of each other or seriously considers the other person’s position when people act like that. |

I will show you the dead skull of one of the most racist, morbid human beings to ever walk upon the North American continent. It just happens to be a member of my family so I will fill in gaps, give some background, but it’s going to be a mouthful anyway you look at it, so I’ll just do my best to keep it short. Wikipedia doesn’t give all the facts or lacks accuracy on their facts. First of all, as they say you can choose your friends, but you can’t choose your family. You, most of you are my friends and so I share it with you. The guys who don’t like me, I still like you even if I give you sh-t from time to time in humor. We never liked Ben (Bernhard or Bernard in German). Ben was his nickname from the German, his native language. My grandmother’s brother who were young children in the Ukraine and German speaking Mennonite farmers until 1917 when the Bolsheviks came. They had estates and were better farmers than the Russians or Ukrainians. They fled first to Mexico for a few years then got to Canada where my own father was born speaking German. Ben was pretty intelligent, IQ off the charts. Graduated in E.E. University of Toronto, proceeded to invent the worlds first wall mounted electric can opener. Lost that to American companies who stole his patent or somehow out paced him. That was a little fame for him. I got pics from his autobiography of him in Hollywood in the 50s with his wife and on commercials with that thing. After that it all went south. He invented a White Supremist racist religion called The Supreme Church of the Creator. There were churches around the USA. He is attributed as the man who wrote the White Man’s bible. I remember 20 or 25 years ago someone murdering a Jewish doctor coming out of his abortion clinic. My sister said that on CNN at the time it was a member of one of those churches. He hated Jewish people most but anyone that wasn’t white by race. He ended up becoming American and lived in Florida. Even ran for the Florida State Legislature. Funny thing about Ben is, he was Jewish. From his autobiography that I stole from my father, who got it from his daughter Kim at a family reunion years ago at her house in Colorado, Ben’s parents, father also named Bernard, Mother’s maiden name was Penner – a very Jewish name. My father’s sister Elsie pointed this out years ago. I met him as a young child with my brother and sister at my grandmother’s farm in Herschel Saskatchewan and I remember that. Interesting that it is also in his autobiography. From this book I also learned that our ancestry isn’t German, although German speaking on that side of the family. It is actually Dutch. My mother’s side is English, Irish and Scottish. His last name was Klassen, but don’t read too deep if you do. Halloween is coming and if you read into this morbid racist man you’ll get a lot of the same, another Hitler. He aligned himself with the same. As a child, we got a box of books (a dozen or so) that he wrote. My Christian mother wrote him back and said: What about the bible, it says to love your fellow man as you love yourself. Ben wrote my mother back saying: Don’t insult my intelligence with the bible! She burned all of those books in the fireplace thereafter. I only have the autobiography which I stole from the old man on the sly. Hell, I could write a book about this, but one mentor gave some advice saying: when you stir the ****, it stinks!! I’ll end this by quoting the Apostle Paul who in one of his letters said: Where sin abounds, grace does much more abound. I’m the one to carry the banner and the mantle in the name of grace and righteousness, at least in my own nuclear family. What a fu-king mouthful that was. Sorry Toby. |
