Don’t forget trackrat from Kansas. He’s like Midwest Suga.

I did not want to call them all out for participation sake. I even went so far as to leave pnutz off my "repetitive" ledger...

Your mad because the 1986 was the last 915 trans, and your car missed the cutoff, plus about a $5000 loss on value over the 1987 G50 if all is equal.
I had one in a 1972 and 1985. But my 88 G50 is so much better....remember, it’s in the 964 too, but there .....the G50 had the shift pattern shortened. Oh big improvement over the Carrera G50.
Then the lovely G50 6 Speed in the 993 is the best. Porsche knew the 915 was outdated. Yes it can be shifted, but until I got my 964, I just thought who cares, I never liked how you sit with the long throw and longer stick.....plus some think when a short shifter is installed on a 915 it’s not good.
People then try to shift quickly but do not understand how a transmission of that vintage works, the syno do not spool up quick enough and the 915 gets excessive wear points, causing grinding.
Who cares you say?

what you got?
I don't need money to go visit Shug. IIRC, I (nicely) offered to go over there and show him how to jump start his car. I'm pretty sure I even offered to let him drive my car to see how a proper 911 handles, versus his dump truck comments. Alas, he prefers to remain anonymous so he can troll with impunity. Yes, I believe we live close to each other, but I'm not sure.

I live in Westchester County, just north of NYC. I'm happy to meet with him or any of you guys for a coffee, a beer or in my garage if you're ever in the area. I like cars. I like to talk about them, drive them, look at them and meet other like minded people. It's been a lifetime hobby that has grown over time.

There are people who act out for attention. Some throw temper tantrums. Some throw out provocative statements. Most are desperately insecure.

Or, as I said, some people are just miserable.

If the Sugar Meister wants to remain anonymous, I guess that is his right in a free country. I would encourage Sugar to go and do Starbucks with Nick. Bring the cars and meet up just for fun. Why not? You're in the neighborhood.

If not, we'll still have a Sugarwood that posts thread/topics that go against all odds. Without him, the forum-ites may miss having someone legitimate that they can pick on. How dreary of a scenario would that be? Sugar doesn't mind getting beat up so it seems. He might enjoy it i don't know. Anyway Sugar, go get a coffee with Nick in the neighborhood, and make him pay! Even if you have coffee, you can remain who you are, continue posting like you do.

Nick was once a long haired Hippie with a 912. You two might find lots to talk about

I look back on the years I spent building and racing my car with much fondness, but the money it took to even remain the least bit competitive was far beyond what I could justify in the end. all ive got now is hours of race videos and memories... I do miss the people I raced with, but many of the grassroot "privateers" that I shared paddock space with have left for much the same reason I did. and I never could bring myself to go racing a miata.

The tire changes suck and kill the sport. There has been a lot of talk about Karting at the club level being dead because of soft tires that last one race. There used to be 15-20 Karts 10 years ago. Now some races have 6 Karts. You have to run Pro Kart to get a 25 Kart class.
To be competitive at KPX races we have to run a new set on practice day and race day. That’s $450.00 a weekend for tires. It’s BS.
But without them you’re 2 tenths off and that’s a mile when 1st and 2nd are sometimes separated by a couple thousands.

We will be moving to the teen Miata challenge mid season next year while running Pro Kart series. And try to get competitive in Miata by 2021 season.
I’ve been struggling with the fact I may never get to build my 74 because of racing costs. I may set on it for a couple more years until we figure out if he has real talent. Otherwise I’ll be selling to fund F3.

I want to punch someone Everytime I read 84 to 89 3.2 coupe. Every coupe from 84 to 89 was a 3.2 why do you have to identify one as a 3.2?

If you ever get up to Bear Mtn on the weekend drop me a pm.
If I’m around, I’ll pull the green one out of the garage.

perhaps. but they make for great race cars with probably the lowest barrier to entry cost wise, and offer lots of classes in which to race.

if you want to get into racing cars competitively, it's hard to find a better way...

Ha! Try and beat one on the track.

In racing it’s about the next step and best path to Pro level. Miata racing has factory support and a teen challenge series. I’d put him in wheelbarrow racing if it were the way to go.

That's why I said the Kansas part. It's the only way I can keep him straight from the rest. Trackrash is an older timer and pretty straight shooter. Rat from Kansas on the other hand asks some of the more inane things.

Well, as the owner of 2 SCs and an 88 Carrera. I do like the way the G50 shifts.

Agreed, if you take the time to research and are in the market for the car you know a 1987,1988 and a 1989 have a G50 and nothing earlier unless someone modified it. Pointless putting it in the title for any real buyer.
