Sunroof
How much of a premium does sunroof delete add on a g body outlaw
Or does it ? I personally don't like sunroofs on hot rods but maybe it's me

Interesting question.... I purchased a non-sunroof G. I do not believe I paid a premium or received a discount over a similiar equipped S/R car. For me it was the characteristic that made me pull the trigger on the car and overlook its color which wasn't a desired color for me. I have seen non-S/R cars languish on the market.
I do agree with you S/Rs don't belong on hot rods. Ironiclly, S/Rs command a premium on 356s & long hoods.

personal choice - for a hotrod I would say no sunroof. Even on stock G body, I prefer my non sunroof vs sunroof
Hagerty valuation tool adds 5% for sunroof. |

Hagerty is just adding options. True value depends on the complete package. A euro 911 is going to pull more than a US delivery of the same year, condition etc. Typically it would not have a sunroof. For a hot rod and us tall folk it's a huge bonus. Knowing what a pain it is to delete one, starting without one is a dream.

Would love an oem slick-top since its rare and lighter, but I also, as I grow older, I admire the mechanical aspects of the 80's era 911 SC.

I’ve owned a couple sunroof Carreras and I’m too tall for them, even an 86 with the lower mounted seats. Of course for performance at the limit on the track the weight up high is a liability but on the street it makes no difference.

If using on a track I would definately recommend sunroof delete for anyone over 6'. If I could have found a sunroof delete I would have bought it when I was looking but since I wasn't using it on the track I just lowered the seat rails in my 84 sunroof . In the end it wasn't that difficult and fine for road use and it made it the most comfortable compact sports car and enjoy having the sunroof.

It is hard to really put a value on the 74 and later cars without a sun roof, but there is defiantly a premium for 74 and later 911's with out the sunroof option. Like wise there is a premium on the 73 and earlier 911's with the sunroof and for that matter as many special order options a possible, the more options the more desirable on the 73 and earlier cars.
Sunroof on G body was a 'option', an additional equipment request to the factory when ordering the car, not a 'delete'. A 'delete' was a request to the factory to not have a standard item installed. |

I was once a big fan in fact when I sold 911 #1 (73T ) for #2 (78 SC) one of the reasons was for the sunroof. I've had a few more since( 56) but to me the roof without sunroof is one of the best panels on the car. The rarity probably appeals to me as well

I have always and even more so lately been under the impression that after say '74
cars G models and SC / Carreras were most often shipped from the factory for US consumption fully optioned ..unless ordered otherwise. A/C , power windows , sunroof , sport seats, alloys etc. The factory allotment to a dealer always included fully optioned vehicles , we as Americans rarely bought the stripper ..only if ordered as such. I have a 911 sc without a sunroof. I found it more desirable because it was a ROW 911. Many Euro cars are not with ordered lots of options. I did not care either way if it had a sunroof

Sunroofs are cool
On a summer night. You can see the stars. During the day in the mountains, you can smell the pines. |

I don’t get the sunroof stigma - on a road car (with notoriously ineffective a/c no less), it doesn’t get much better than ripping around with windows down and sunroof open. Track car may be a different story, but I’m happy to be able to look up to the sky and enjoy additional airflow
And at 6’1” a sunroof has never caused a comfort issue for me
