Yep, winning Thunderhill in a 30 year old air cooled 911 is a crowning achievement.

The “new” class is GTL. They allow 3.6 engines and gear ratio changes, among other things. Reno Rennsport and JWE are building some amazing cars for the class.

++++++++

Especially to a Porsche 930 by taking it back to the 930 project influence of the 934.

Question of the day, if you had the bodywork available to redo the tired body parts on the 87, would you swap it out and paint it up to go to market as an IROC car?

Should I take the time to convert this 87 back to a street car outlaw? Lots of money to get an interior redone, but lots of money to replace all of the old safety equipment as well.

Go full in and backdate the car to short hood outlaw with 3.2L engine. That seems to be popular on the auction sites. Let me know what you think. Appreciate your time, Russ
It depends on what sort of time / energy and return you are looking for from it.
There is quite a growing trend for ‘the used racecar look’ starting again.

Living with an absolute peach of a 3.2 as well as a couple of ‘top of their class’ classics, I personally would really enjoy something like that, with the outside sealed (against rust and further deterioration), the car made street worthy and the inside made to be a nice comfortable place to be, nothing fancy. Just comfy and a little raw.

Okay, you won’t get top $$$ for something like that and it wouldn’t be to everyone’s choice, but you only need one buyer.

Low investment and a real racecar history and patina. As others have said, not for CA or CO or other emission states, but somewhere like Minnesota, this would be the equivalent of a guitar amp that ‘Goes up to eleven’.
