Considering this 930, but...
Found a GP White 930 for sale that I'm interested in, but concerned about removing these side skirts and someone converted the gauges to white. Don't have a picture of the gauges. Does anyone recognize the side skirts and have an idea of what is involved in removing them?

As long as they didnt cut a massive hole for that duct i would think its probably mostly stuck on with double sided tape. I wouldnt sweat it too much. Worry about the expensive stuff like the engine

Wondering about the hole too. Maybe it uses the torsion bar hole??

It either has clips or is glued on. Worst case is some bodywork and paint. Gauges can be restored. Making these changes isn't a big deal if everything else checks out.

It also has 993 mirrors and the wrong wheels. You're looking at 5k or so to put the outside back to stock (which I think is worth it) You could sell the mirrors and wheels to recoup that. What other mods have been done to the engine and interior? Seems like there would be many more mods considering how many external changes have been done.

Those are BBS LM’s an easy 2500/3K, the aero mirrors 500 do you can recover some money. That said I can see an aftermarket exhaust can deduce the car is far from stock, if you’re looking for something stock this isn’t for you.

Not too bad for me. If it were me, I'd buy it and drive it as is for a while and see what needs to be sorted out mechanically before cosmetics.

I'm good with tools.

I don't hate the mirrors, but they are not for me......I do hate the side skirts....They are FUGLY.
If these are the ONLY issues you should buy it.....

I agree. The mirrors look good. The side skirts are horrible. Gauges are not a big deal. Pull them and send them to Palo Alto Speedo in CA to have them restored the way you want. Are there any other changes/mods?

Sideskirts look modeled after 964 Turbo S. Not that they are that, but simply that they look like those... However, does the whole cut into the fender or just below it.

They should be installed with body tape at the body and screws underneath and come off easy. The factory rockers can be purchased and painted to match. Worst case is they painted the car with these installed. It's not the proper way to paint the car, but anything is possible.

To make the rear fender ducts functional you have to cut out part of the body panel. If not functional you have to trim the ducts back. You cannot get to the torsion bars with the side panels in place. I had these on a turbo car back in the 90's and unfortunately the body shop that installed them cut the fenders. The side panels were held on with body panel clips.

Is this a gray market car? I ask because,of the Euro width rear bumpers, lenses and euro reverse light. Not stock, (assuming this is a US car) if that is the end goal. Parts could probably be sold though.

This is a Euro spec car. SC Cams, aftermarket intercooler and turbo. All of this was done by the owner in New Jersey in 2001. I have the records. Bergen Auto Imports did the work. Looks like a decent shop. I sent them the records and pictures, but haven't heard back. |

Hmmm. So let me ask a few more questions: Did this car come from the factory as a Euro-spec 930? or Did the previous owner modify a narrow-bodied Euro-spec SC and add the body panels and various engine and turbo bits? Post the VIN and/or the white option label from under the hood here with the option codes. That may answer these questions. Either way, the car seems to be have been pretty seriously modified, which unfortunately erases a lot of value. Stock survivors in good condition with original paint bring the highest numbers. However, could still be a great, fun car to own. Just need to make sure you don't pay 930 prices if it is "just" a modified Euro SC or Carrera.

I'm actually looking for a driver. So I don't mind miles and a little work as long as the price reflects what I need to do. At $69K he's a little high for what needs to be accomplished for me. Naturally, a PPI would still needs to be done, but I'm trying to figure out if I am interested enough to go there. I don't want to do body work to repair the rear fenders. Glad you liked the tuned exhaust! Looks like a nice car from the picture however being Euro spec and having a modified body both reduce value by todays standards. Hard to even find Euro car values as everyone skips the years 1980-1985. They are awesome cars, the value hit is not justified IMO. Verify the rear fenders were cut in the off chance that they cut the ducts instead.

I know it isn't my money but the car John Walker posted about earlier in this thread looks like a much better option to my eyes for similar money.
Here is the link for those interested. https://seattle.craigslist.org/see/cto/d/seattle-1987-porsche-930-turbo-coupe/7198855398.html
