Where are the 964 C2/C4 level off?

Boy the 964 market is nuts hot
To find a C2 forget it, a C4 getting tough

And maybe the low numbers of Targa models

What is a average 964 Targa 2 worth.?

The cabs a few want with Tiptonic

I guess we all should have purchased a coupe 10 years ago. Even cabs are going up slowly.

Yep, I did exactly that. Bought a C2 coupe with 93k miles for $18.5k in 2011. Sold it for more than double back in 2017. No regrets whatsoever. Never liked the looks or the driving experience which felt heavy and sluggish. Insanely overpriced right now. Not worth it at all! I currently own a 1978 SC and find it to be a much more rewarding experience. Do not waste your $$$ on a 964.

A good example of a 964 Targa 2 will be in the $80’s assuming maintenance is mostly caught up.

Finding a nice C2 is extremely difficult, especially finding one that isn’t Black, White or Red. It took me over 2 years to find one.

Opinions, everybody has one.

Personally I have driven an 84, 993 and 964 in the canyons and my takeaway is that the 964 is the perfect balance between the older 911 and the 993. The biggest takeaway is that all of these examples need to have proper suspension and alignment done on them to extract their true capabilities. I ran my Targa in the canyons before installing suspension and it scared the crap out of me. It was ponderous on center, leaned a bunch and couldn’t hold a corner worth a crap. After proper suspension, bushings and corner balance it felt incredible in the corners.

As far as looks, that’s purely your opinion. The beauty of the 964 is that it’s one of the few Porsche air cooled platforms (other than longhood) that can be personalized to your taste and still look great. Can’t really say that about the 911, other than Fuch’s and maybe RUF wheels on the later models nothing else looks “right”.

I went the other way. Was looking for an SC or 3.2 but drove a 964 out of curiosity despite all the warnings from "enthusiasts". Less than a minute into the test drive it was immediately apparent the 964 was special and would be my next 911..

Had the same experience with the 996 about five years later.

Nothing special about either. The 964 is the most overrated POS 911 that ever existed. I also owned a 993. That was a damn good car. If you want a modern air cooled car, the 993 is the only way to go.

All these cars are great cars. We all have our preferences. I even saw a couple 996 out and about this week that looked absolutely sweet. I don't think pictures do the 996 body any justice. Got to see one in the wild. Engines, now that's a different conversation.

There's that but there's also 911 canon as in that's what the 911 gods would say. Consult them.

Overpriced yes. Overrated disagree- 150K miles seat time in a 964 and the 1 car I regret selling and not because of the price run up. Perfect blend of classic style, modern updates. Pull some weight and add coil overs, MY02 rims, headers, RS clutch and LWFW, performance chip resulting in an awesome B road car

Hi

Some people hate the front bumper, but it’s not only hard to understand but engine rebuilds are expensive
If not for the few Targa I think $80,000 is too much. Car Planet had a good one for sale.

the "Blinger"
as much a reason as any for the 964 price run-ups.
Blinger grabbed them up - because you could barely give one away at that point in time ...... the "Ugly Duckling" era.
