Question 69 911S engine Value? ? ?

I've come across a 1969 911S engine that hasn't run in some time. It is complete with the correct MFI. Everything looks good from the outside, but I have not inspect the interal parts at all yet. Any idea on the value of something like that?

Awfully tempting to try and find a nice chassis to mix with the engine.

Thanks,
Rich

That is a good find! Here are three threads discussing values.

Thanks Luke. I might have to subscribe to the 911S registry. I'd really just be a lurker for a while over there though, as my longhood collection at this point is mostly imaginary

It very tough to put a value on a used engine, you have to assume that it is a core and will require a rebuild. The highest valuation would be to the guy that owns chassis motor came out of, the next would be someone w/ 69S with wrong type motor. To buy rebuild and put into another chassis for a hot rod project you will be paying dearly for those 170 horses. If you really like the characteristics of those 2 L S motors than go for it.

Rich have you decided to buy or pass on the engine, unless you have something period correct
to install it in it could be something of a boondoggle( ie expensive boat anchor)..
Not running core in need of everything have gone anywhere from 3500-5k,running in good shape
7500. and up thanks Bert

From the looks of it, you could say core value (I own 2 69 S's). Rebuilds are expensive as some parts were only used in 69 (valves) and the MFI will need an expensive rebuild also.

Being so old (and looking at the red paint on the fan) perhaps someone already took it apart so its hard to know if it has all the correct S specific parts on it.

I have seen non running cores (actually bought one for $1300) and have seen them listed for $1500 to $3500.

Is this something you are selling or thinking of buying? I'm looking for a 69 S case but will consider a whole engine for the right price.

I think you will see higher values than that ($1500) for a 69S core engine.

In some vintage racing bodies the 69S engine is highly prized. I know the Sovren guys up in the NW would probably very much like to have that particular engine.

I would say that you may do well by yourself to advertise that engine in some of the vintage racing periodicals or call Gary or Rod Emory at Emory Racing up in McMinnville Oregon, 503 835-2300.

1969 was such an inbetween year. It was a 2.0 but magnesium cased. It didn't have "that much" more appeal than the standard or E. In my opinion the 69S is the worst year of the S cars. Many people I have spoken to agree that a 69 S is not the direction to take for desirability. I wouldn't pay any more for a 69S engine than I would a standard 69 engine. I would certainly pay less for a 69S engine than ANY aluminum 2.0 from an earlier 65-67 whether or not it was an S or not. I think that will help you value it much more objectively.
