930 help
I need some help. I though i would of sold my 930 along time ago. It is about as nice of a modded 930 as you can get. I am asking 32k and still nothing. I have had it on ebay autotrader, rennlist, pca mart and here. Any advice is welcome. Any places i should be listing it on? Here is the link to the website i made for the car www.porsche930forsale.com and the ebay link
I don't need to sell it. I am building a track only 911 so i would like a 996 or 996t that i can daily drive, getting tired of the PT cruiser ![]() I won't sell for less than 31k, i got over 90k into it ![]() Thanks in advance, Scott ![]()

Just some thoughts...
Much of the value of early 930s is in their originality. People prize original bodywork and paint and unmodified cars. I looked at the website and it's a really great idea, however I can't make out any detail at all on the invoices you posted up, and that's important. Your ebay link is dead. Regards, d.

Modified car. Unusual color. High asking price. At least 4 decisions subject to personal preferences/taste whims (seats, wheels, tail, air dam). All of which affects the market.
Not saying by any means that it's not worth what you're asking, just that your market for a turbo is limited, a modified turbo more so. Folks seem to prefer spending 3 times as much to do it themselves... Looks like you're hitting all the places you need to advertise; I think you should keep listing it the places you have, and wait. If you're determined not to drop the price - but don't need to sell, what do you have to lose? The web site is a great idea. Heck, my car has very similar motor modifications (except EFI) and I daily-drive it, often in the rain - just get "real" insurance and sell the PT cruiser. Least you won't have to fit snow tires in AZ.. ![]()

I would put some 'lipstick" on it...stock (turbo) rear deck-lid, Fuchs + tone down the front grilling (looks like the screen in my storm windows). List @ $32k and it will sell.

Somethings to consider.. at that price, there are a lot of nearly new Porsche alternatives (ie, 996, CaymanS, "almost" 996TTs etc.. plus various modded SC/Carreras, 964s and 993.) Second is that well, a Modded 930 is a BRUTE to learn to drive and drive well. Especially compared to the list of cars already mentioned. Not that it will help, but as you know, modded cars need a special buyer. Period. It could take 1 month.. it could take 8 months.. could take 2 years, especially if you "must have your price". My modded SC took about 8 months.. Similar time for my modded 914. My stock boxster (desirable car beyond PCA folks) sold in about 6 weeks.

Thanks for the replies. I will work on the website. I didn't know the invoices won't show up, thanks for the heads up. I totally understand this is going to take the right buyer and i am willing to take my time (but we had a 996 in the shop the other day that i would love to buy). I also understand that every cent i put in the car i won't get back so i don't really want to spend more trying to turn it back into a stock 930, i thought about parting it out but that would be too sad. I have all the OE body parts so i will leave it up to the buyer to have the car the way they want it. (i might put the OE turbo tail back on, its just so heavy). I will agree most 930's are a hand-full to drive (i am a driving instructor so i have driven a few on the track) BUT this one is different. It turns like no other 930 i have driven. No under-steer, back end just bites and goes. Taking 400 pounds off the car made a big difference. It is a blast to drive, i will miss it but the track car i am building will be even better.
What do you guys think about listing it overseas? Anyone with experience with where to list it overseas? I will work on the website and put it back on ebay this weekend with a reserve of 30k and see what happens. Thank again, Scott

One other challenge, perhaps overlooked, is now that 930s are "so old", I think most buyers are looking for unmolested examples. They want time capsules (low miles, pristine paint etc). The market has turned away from wanting full on modded cars. The search is on for "original cars". This will take buyers away from you.
I don't doubt its a fun car. I recall my brothers 930 being a hoot to drive on the track. His was a modded '82 Euro. I think overseas could be an even TOUGHER sell given their tighter "DOT" type rules.

Thanks for the post. I hear you guys on the whole stock vs modded market value. If i could do it over i would have done it different. All the OE bumpers and tail were painted with the car so they are a perfect match.
I guess the pix of the bumper grills didn't turn out well. Its the thick SS mess not stuff from your screen door. ![]() I didn't think about the DOT restrictions in other countries...good point. That is a bummer because i have a ton of guys from Nigeria that want to pay me 3x what i am asking for it... Thanks again, Scott

Here is my two cents. If I were in your shoes I would go with the stock rear deck lid and spoiler and I would go with a front bumper/spoiler which was a bit less aggressive. I would also put on a set of heat exchangers. Those items will make the car a whole lot more street appearing and give it a whole lot more range of usability.
Sure you can drive it on the street right now but with that front spoiler you have to watch where you go, with no heat and ventilation you rule out a big part of country and that monster tail although it might work well on the track is over the top for the street. I would also go back and properly mount a rear plate holder and plate lights so it can easily be registered and inspected and again tone down the “track only” appearance. Sweet car, good luck with your sale.
