1969 911T Valuation
Hi all, need your input... 1969 911T. Matching numbers. Bahama Yellow, but a poor respray, jams are still original color and look good. No accidents have been detected. Rust is limited to one inch in pass door jam, and head light buckets, all of which we have treated. Everything is original, but no radio.
Engine was rebuilt by last owner, but not done correctly, and will need to be rebuilt again because she smokes and leaks. Suspension work was completed with new shocks and bushings, and have paperwork on that. Transmission needs attention, but shifter bushings have been replaced, and a fully rebuilt/redone pedal cluster. Interior is all there, but no radio. Seats have no tears, but need to be redone. Dash needs replaced. Window seals need to be replaced, but door seals, front hood seals have been replaced. Front trunk is in incredible shape. Completely redone gas tank, including filler neck and fuel level sender. No rust on pans, nothing showing on rockers. I'd say she could use a moderate restoration?

Great color.....
Techweenie knows these cars well so I would wait for his opinion or PM direct. My opinion is the car could sell in the teens. Very nice and complete cars are available for $20,000 to $25,000. example;

Hey, thanks PastaBoy.
I think this is a $10-12K car, unfortunately. The big dings against the price are the engine work and paint. Needing dash replacement is pretty common in these cars even into the mid-high teens value. And that starts the slippery slope. Glass out for paint; do the dash ($1500+ labor) and while you're there, headliner @$300+. You say seats need redoing, what about carpet? How are the gauges? If you assign a dollar value to all these things, it would be pretty depressing. But IMO, a straight, rustfree LWB coupe chassis is a good start for any direction a buyer wants to go, and Bahama Yellow is a hot color at the moment.

Thanks for the responses guys. I kind of thought that is where it would be about, and sadly I know it would cost more to tackle the issues then the car would probably be worth for quite some time.
I ask because I have a chance at a fully restored 75, and would obviously need to get out from the '69. I love the car, I really do, but I am also a realist. Being 26 years old, I don't foresee walking into money to just kiss away.

May I respectfully suggest you keep the '69; tackle the engine first and cosmetics as you drive and enjoy the car? No one can predict the future, but my guess is that a '69 with a rust- and damage-free chassis will hold its value better (and have a better chance of appreciating) than a '75.

Tech- That certainly has crossed my mind as well. I guess I am just depressed in the sense that I need mucho $$$ to get it there.
and I should say, the 75 has been backdated to a euro carrera, including the engine work and all. I also should add, I am not looking at any of these as an investment, but a mere hobby I won't loose my @$$ in- if that makes sense? Thanks for your input Tech!

Am- I think I remember your car; it presents well. Post pictures for tighter estimate.
This is a tough market for project Ts & Es. I would guess-estimate there are at least ten on the for sale board currently.

The idea is to lose as little as possible by making 'market value friendly moves.' This is still an emotional decision, but it can have rational underpinnings. I appreciate the dilemma of a "done" car vs a project. Projects are not for everyone. As Macroni points out, the classifieds are littered with project cars.
But there are projects and projects. Think about getting a top end done on the engine and you'll have a presentable body and good drivetrain, and someone wanting to do an RS style interior will be happy to grab it.

If it matters much... I am not in any position where this car has to go. I think I am just thinking out loud about what to do with it. She has a home in a garage with no foot traffic around her, and I try and get her out as often as I can.
These are the only pic's I have on my work computer. ![]() ![]()

Macroni- I appreciate your thoughts. Maybe I just needed that extra push- you know, when one is feeling down!
