Convert from 2.7 to 3.2 how difficult?

I would like to know how difficult it would be to swap a 2.7 for a 3.2?

I'm considering the purchase of a 74 with the 2.7 (CIS converted to carbs?)

Has anyone experience with this and can offer an opinion?

Should I even consider doing it, are there any advantages to keeping the 2.7 with a Zenith carb set-up? I have heard stories of heat affecting various metal components and head studs pulling etc etc etc?

Thanks for any input,
Stay well
Mike

I've done it with my 1973.5 It was not that difficult. 3.2 is a great engine, and Motronic was a lot simpler to set up than the cis. There are a few issues with the 3.2 engine. They used the dilavar studs which can break, and ususaly will need the original valve guides replaced. Transmission issues are minor, notches would need to be cut in the housing to clear the flywheel sensors on the 3.2.

You need to drill a hole in the area at the extreme left bottom of the rear seat vertical base near the pan to run the control harness to the ECU, which sits under the driver's seat. There's also a little work needed to adapt the 14-pin engine compartment connector in your current chassis to the 3.2 engine harness.

A 3.2 swap is fairly easy, and well documented.

You might want to post some details on the car though...a lot of these "mid year" cars were neglected and you are often better off buying an SC or Carrera, even with higher mileage.
