Would you paint Sepia Brown ?

Would you? It is original to my 1973 911T Coupe, now under full restoration.

Greetings, Harold

Exactly. The original color is second-best to the original paint. Everything else is a distant third.

If you're going for "as original" restoration. If you are going for hotrod or tribute or some other modded ride, then going to a different color would be OK.

Browns are hot right now anyway. They might be out of fashion again at some point, but fashion is fickle.

Browns are VERY German to me! The car in that image looks great to many/most true P-car folks...others will most likely not be fans and think you screwed it up royally.

Paint it whatever color you want but that brown looks really nice and is correct for your car. If you do sell some day, a true enthusiast will see it as a plus and should well be a great steward for the car and your efforts.

It's not just that. Brown was a very "70s" color. In those days astrology, drugs, rock and roll and colors were 'in'. Right around that time, I remember naming brown as my favorite color. "Baby" deserves to remain the color she was born. If you want another color car, (which I can understand) get another car.

Great color. Great contrast with the wheels and chrome.

Well, I think it's easy to say 'keep it original' when it's not yours.

And as Harold is a high volume dealer, I suspect he will have more trouble selling a Sepia car when it's done.

I didn't know this.

I think, currently, "original as possible" generates the highest resale number. BUT, if you're after quick turnaround, then Bahama yellow or Tangerine or Ossi blue makes the fast sale. Your final number won't be as high as it could be, but the money gets in your pocket sooner. Which is a valid consideration if you're a reseller.

Are you kidding me. I never was a "high volume dealer",
I restore cars, and sell one or two per year.
This Porsche will be the last restoration for me, I am 62 and need to slow done.

Greetings, Harold

Well, Harold. Not all members here are on the same page.

Good luck with the T, and keep the original color. Long term original color will be worth most....Indish rot or Viper Grun...never change the color no matter what the internet Einsteins say.

But if you are trying to sell a car as a dealer it is better to use the for sale section.

All the best,

Christian

I guess high volume is a relative thing. I believe a friend of mine once bought over a dozen 911s from you in a single package.

Sepia Brown

Thanks for all the comments.
I will restore it the way it was, Sepia Brown with MFI - the sound and response of MFI is worth it.
Need to convince the WIFE now.
The Interior could be Tan or black, tan is friendlier, black is sporty.

We are welding the front pan right now, then the other usual Coupe areas.

Greetings, Harold
