beverly hills car club?
TheSamba.com :: VW Classifieds - 1974 Porsche 911 Targa
Whats the story with these guys? They seem to have a ton on inventory (much of it rough). The descriptions are usually really vague and prices often seem on the high side. Has anyone ever bought a car from them?

Sorry, I don't know anything about buying from them. My other car is a 100-4 Healey and they seem to be able to produce a never ending stream of completely dilapidated Healeys. Heck, they even deal in stolen ones:
Man finds missing car Later, Wally p.s. NOT saying they intentionally sell stolen cars...just sayin'

Very vague descriptions, very rough cars. Extreme car flippers, buy (very) low, sell high.
I would not consider a car from them. Needs minor cosmetics for them is for most us needs full Restoration. This stole car issue they solved correct: guy got his money back from them. |

they are the used car industry's "pickers" they unearth quite a few cars of all kinds and conditions from all over the country, a "boiler room" of car hunters. You have to respect these guys they might find your next 64, RS ect...who knows....you just got to do your own diligence. They handle too many marques to be any good at providing accurate descriptions..
I have bought from them with no issue, it's a completely legit biz and very busy at that. They have wrenches there but mostly to get the cars started not much more. they dont seem interested in the repair or restoration biz, they just do what they are best at, picking cars. I would have no problem buying from them again, they might come up with the chassis to one of my engines and they are local. |

Respect them!!!!! Ha !!! They are slimy as can be. Shady at best. Buyer beware with them. They will cut your throat over a dollar. My advise , stay away from dealing with them .

Ya they wormed their way in on a car I had bought put deposit on and was on the road to get . Those slimy ....... Offered the guy 5000 more dollars and told him to tell me he decided not to sell! Then I was offered the car for more and it became an auction. They got it , they apparently have an endless supply of money to offer! They are just very cutthroat and have no morals !!! I have nothing nice to say about them at all.

The subject car was put up at a low price and the price was then changed to 'call for price,' meaning BHCC discovered their mistake and effectively started an auction.

How can they overpay and still make a profit? Couldn't the 1st or 2nd caller do the same or are Berverly Hills paying more reasonable prices and accepting a smaller profit than others? Also can you please explain the robots more. Is it a level playing field or do you think they have developed their own? |

I sold them a car...1971 911T, I fully understood who they are, their motives, objectives, and so forth.
It's always the same in car buying and selling....buyer BEWARE .....that could be with a new Porsche dealer too. Understand what your getting, understand what your selling. My sell to them was fine, they paid on time with a bank transfer, picked up the car in a timely manner, and I moved on. No complains, never heard back from them and they then sold the car to a guy in Tenn, because he called me. The profit they made was between the buyer and seller...I think people do not fully understand the cars or market, then can make mistakes, but I fully understand how dealers can be rough to deal with on integrity...my 2 cents.. |

Techweenie, you sound like you have direct knowledge of the deal under discussion. Is that correct?
If what peko states is true, that he agreed on a price with a seller and the seller had accepted a deposit, it's my understanding that's a legal contract and he has a serious issue with the seller, not with BHCC. |

It's the fact that the Beverly Hills car club had no concern that a deal had already been made and was on a mission to just pay above whatever I was willing to go to afford the car! They even had the nerve to tell the seller what excuses to tell me. they just have no class and no morals! in my book they are slime and i will tell everyone i can how unhonorable and slimy they are! The car in question was a 1969 soft window 912 Irish green.

I was referring to the Mexico Blue Targa that was the subject of this thread. I suggested it to a friend at the asking price and he tried to buy it, only to have the price change. |

How is raising your price bad?
The buyer only pays what he feels is a fair price. If the car is misrepresented, then yes, that is bad.... but simply trying to get more for the car is their right. I went to BHMC to look at a car for a friend. It was pretty bad and I told him to pass, but no one there even talked to me. I was actually pretty impressed that they let me poke all around the car (1987 Testarossa) without harassing me at all. |

I've always found it interesting that people assume an asking price followed by OBO means that the car is going to sell for less then asking. In this market an OBO can mean that the seller can and will increase the price if offers over asking come in and compete for the car.
Nothing to say about the dealer in question. I know nothing about them or their tactics. |
