Makes me not want to modify my car. Everything I have done is easily reversable but the money is in the stock OEM cars.

seen the prices for 64-67 Mustangs? How many more of those were made than air cooled 911s?

The market is cooler now because its winter in most of the country. Just wait until March or April.

If indeed four years of mustang sales exceeded 34 years of air cooled 911 sales I would ask you how many more mustang buyers are out there vs 911 buyers. Supply and demand.

Well. The bubble may burst, but in the Porsche world, it will actually look more like a plateau. Look at 356s. Many still say that the 356 market was a bubble that burst but I never saw any retreating in value with those cars. They just slowed their climb. If you are waiting to find a sub $15k sc driver you better be ready to buy one in an hour because that's how fast they sell. Those deals get harder and harder to find every day.

The "sold Items" filter on eBay is hardly accurate. Look how many items appear in that search over and over again and appear to be sold. How many of them were shill bid and sold?

Unfortunately the market in used cars is not transparent and we simply don't get to know "time and sales" like we would for any of the capital markets.

His friends will bid it up to just under his ridiculous price.
Like the 200,000 dollar 930 Symbolic is trying to sell.

GR discount?

It's a wonderful car, I am flexible on price but it's a car that would be very hard to find in a few years. There is no good SC cars under $20,000 anymore, if so let me know. Anybody still thinking they can buy these cars in this condition under 20k, live in the past really. There is so much junk now to find a nice SC or Carrera with a history is not easy. If though many were built, the cars are now 30 years young, so time has not been good to most of them. People drove them, not like the water cooled cars.

Wgwollet, that is a nice car. I'm going to forward it to a friend who is in the market for a clean driver. It sure seems to fit the bill.

Hi

Umm....the first car is mine, it will sell..

I seen POL threads before, the problem with his theory is what condition is the body, paint, interior or engine. Many SC cars under $20,000 will cost you thousand of dollars to get right. Thats where higher priced Private Owner cars like mine are a steal because it needs nothing. No engine, interior, paint, etc. when POL shows his data the cars are usually very tried needing repairs. And repairs in the Porsche world are very expensive. Not like a GM pickup, where I rebuild my 350 CI for less then $1,000.

Just talked to a guy who rebuilt his 1973 911E engine and he did some of the work, it was $25,000...

PML is a waste of space. He has never owned a 911 and never will. His opinion is worthless.

A Porsche is a hands on, touch and feel purchase. Blindly buying one from East Jesus sight unseen and having it shipped to you via eBay is crazy..... which is why eBay prices seem low. Its great for vintage car or motorcycle parts etc., but useless as a used car price guide.

Buy as much and as many as you can afford.
Model T's, Model A's, MOPARS, '55-'57 Chevy's, Ferrari's (late '80's), etc. have all gone through these bubbles.

The bubble will pop. However, prices usually don't return to their previous levels and the TRULY rare will stay expensive (99% of the Porsche built do not fall into the TRULY rare category).
