Wondering what I might expect to fetch for my Petrol blue coupe. Glassurit glass out respray turned out flawless and is true Petrol blue unlike that Targa imo. That car got a lot of good press making me think I could do well selling it there. The paint job is a one footer throughout. Car has 67K miles.

Dam its a Petrol blue outbreak. Heres another one. Same year , less miles. Thought it the same car. had to do a double take. Again the color isnt quite right (imo) too much blue in the mix.

I love that color almost as much as I like the ice metallics.

Getting closer...
The PPI on the 1988 coupe came back 100% positive. The only things the mechanic could find to note were a couple of slightly worn belts, and the oil pressure sender is leaking a very small amount. He said, "It's one of the nicest cars I've seen." My wife gave me the OK to make an offer of $42k on it, so fingers crossed that it will be accepted. I got some quotes on shipping from Atlanta to San Francisco, it's higher than I expected. $2200 from Intercity, $1900 from Passport. I don't want to cheap out on that though so I will just go with one of those two if I get it shipped. I would love to fly out and drive it back, but it's a long shot that my wife will give me a 4 day "hall pass" while she takes care of our two little kids. Have any of you ever used an escrow service when buying a car out of state? Personally I'm a pretty trusting person, but this is a big chunk of money to just wire off to a stranger. I don't know how something like that would work though. |

That pricing isn't really out of whack. My recent endeavors in shipping cars taught me that it's usually about $1/mi. I've got an independent I can recommend if you want. They've shipped two cars for me in the last 3 weeks and I never worked with them before that. I learned that most are brokers who put out a bid on a car and a driver takes the bid. Intercity owns their own trucks and can be a little slower on pick up but it's all contained within their system.
I've wired money on cars many times. Get a copy of the title up front. Get it overnighted to you once the funds hit. There can be hiccups but they are usually minor.

Congrats. I'd go with Intercity for shipping. It'll take longer to get the car picked up but the wait is worth it IMO. I just shipped an '87 Carrera with them and they were awesome.

Exactly. Could have bought a base Boxster, BMW or Audi and had your 43k car worth 35k the minute your wheels left the dealer's lot. The market isn't going to tank and even if it did Whats the value of your seat time.
Plus you may take this car to Australia. You don't even want to know what they are worth over there. Its really a pretty safe buy.

I did have some thought of putting white or grey Carrera side script on it, just to give the exterior some contrast, but I probably won't. By the way, thanks to everyone in this thread who offered advice, encouragement, and links to cars for sale ![]() |
