Priced out of what? Finding a car in that condition is hard work to get back and it was not for a quick flip.

Prices are out of whack because people pay. And people now pay a lot because they want to and can.

This is this. In this life there are poseurs who have no cred and there are people like Adam who has decided, at the last time I checked, to make a living at this and it's a very difficult living with many, many unknowns and pitfalls, not to mention dealing with people all the time who come from all different backgrounds.

My advice to you is to go pick on something like big pharmaceutical companies, oil companies, or other people who tend to control and put prices out of 'whack' as you say. While you're at it, please tell them that it's shameful that I had to spend $637 on my wifes epipen (two).

Looking at this thread, and Adams response, I'm surprised he even dignified it with comment. I just see a dude who buys stuff and sells it, and has the passion to boot.
Thanks Sal, for anyone interested in the full story, I just wrote it up for PCA, it should be on the website next week. It has a complete breakdown of costs, multiple mechanics, cross country hauling, and Sal's right, this car was not easy, nor would it be a money maker if I chose to sell it. But that's not what I bought it, so it doesn't matter. It's also a hell of a car! I've been driving it everyday, knowing the days are numbered until the roads get salty.

---Adam

Adam - that's outstanding, congratulations. Great work - 5+ years ago that would have been a parts car! Glad to see it back on the road in one glorious piece!

Mr. NYC - pony up and buy a car already. If you did, you could join PCA and read some of the fine articles Adam has written to further the brand. Equality of opportunity not outcome is guaranteed in the US of A! Get used to it and pick on someone who deserves it!

Nice story Adam! And thank you for helping me find the spare wheel with the right date code in your stash for my restoration!

Porsche published the story on my 1973.5 and bringing it back!

Self promotion?

I bought 100 shares of AMZN at 297 bucks and 100 more at 347 bucks.

Ha ha - oh man, that hilarious!

Woody wasn't wrong about the "self promotion" bit, however; ol' Adam will even post the same pics over and over, in an attempt to garner some biznizz!

Man, please the last thing I want until Spring is biznizz, I'm finally freeing up some time to work on my own stuff. The 914-6/904 will be back on it's feet for the first time in several years soon.

#LOL It's not just here, also on a ESR. Presumably building up to offloading the Jordanian royalty car.

Strapping myself in and ready for some heartfelt advertorial posts about how upsetting it is for a real enthusiast (read business) who 'saves them all'.

You guys are just feeding the troll. Please don't encourage him.

Understood. Not trying to encourage trolling but in this case I agree with sugarwood. Relentless is a good description of the 'Unobtainium soft ads and self promotional stories across the two forums i frequent, and doubtless other active Porsche BBS. There's a point at which yet another rusty tub, or a large guy that carries transmissions, or how many rusted cars you can fit on a trailer and on and on.
Of course you can say don't click but that's not the point. The point is that unlike so much social media this forum is a place to escape from that relentless promo patter.

Perhaps the powers that be could have a sub for shops and businesses where we could choose to go if we want to be advertised to.

That one, is not for sale.

And you can be both a business and an enthusiast, I was the latter before I was the former. Check my column in the 356 Registry magazine, it predates Unobtanium.

The haters are gonna hate!

Yeah, typical, Nick only wants to hear from me when I'm giving him advice on selling his car. Who knew you could have fair weather friends in your own backyard. Disappointing, but not surprising.

Wasn't calling you the troll Adam, but your criticizer. You should know me better than that by now, my friend.

I feel the need to point this out to, to both of you guys who hide behind silly web names, it's real easy to play the tough guy and call a guy like me out by name, when you are hiding behind a made up name. Sugerwood, I don't know maybe someone calls you that, but it's still a fake name.
So it's hard to take you guys and your criticism seriously, when I'm not even sure you're people, for all I know you are jealous competitors, or scorned girls I knew in high school either way, hard to take you seriously.

Also, if all you see of me is soft advertising on places like the Early S Registry, you either aren't looking very hard, or chose not to. How about all the copies of ESSES I make sure are in all of my hundreds of gift bags, promoting the club. Or how about the year's I've been writing for free for the same magazine. What are you contributing to the club? It's even in my signature on there that people should join the club. So to act like I'm somehow just on there as a floating ad is pretty short sighted and naive.

---Adam
