Definitely - some people here (like the dangling Dane that responded first)think that if a single component of the car is "not as delivered", then it is a turd that should be avoided - I don't see it that way at all.

I like the Turbo body, too, just not the sheepish engine that's hanging out back!!!

Turbo powaaa' or Fred Flintstone - those are the two options!

100% agree with this - like I've babbled about on here before, if it weren't for the fact that I bought my Turbo around ten years ago (aka - much more reasonable pricing back then) and that I can do 99.9% of the work/repairs myself, then I could only dream of owning one of these cars.

Thanks y'all. Hopeflly you guys don't get fed up with me posting these feelers and 'almost bought' threads. It's either I'm ready to buy and the seller becomes very sketchy and falls off the edge of the world or someone snags it before me.

I'll find her soon!! 👍🏼

That car looks bad with the wheels not filling out the huge arches.
Matt's looks so much better.

Yep - the car Itza posted needs around a centimeter more outward spacing with the rear wheels (hard to say about the fronts) - would make a huge difference in appearance . . .

Phat's pimp-sheeper-mobile is pretty cool! ***forum dating***

Yup^
New wheels were already being looked for. Talking to a guy who is opening his own forging company and making me a custom set once I give him specs. Can't wait.

LOL you guys funny. I can sure learn 😁

So here is the next one on my list to see this weekend:

1974 911 convertible (he said not targa and car is all original)
-exterior 'red'
-waiting for vin #
-waiting for pics
-80k miles car is all original runs good but needs a clutch and TLC
-also said needs new top

Stored for 15 years indoors.

He wouldn't give me a price so offered him low $ 1x,xxx and he said to come check it out so guess proce was right. I'll try to update you guys with pics when I get some. But the guy is fairly close so I'll go with a truck and trailer and if everything checks out I'll grab it!

Anything to look out for besides getting a PPI and making sure it wasn't a chopped targa ETC?

I thought the fist convertible "Cabriolet" was made in 1983. 74 was Targa or Coupe only.

It is a chopped Targa. It has been converted. If you are open to that (pun intended), familiarize yourself with Porsche OE roof structure. There were cheap kits using iron straps to make the top mechanism sold in Hemmings back in the 80s/90s.

NOTE: I have seen one car that was a coupe converted to Cab and that's even less desirable as it lacks the additional chassis reinforcements of the Targa...
