964 turbo at Santa Monica Sotheby's

Isn't this estimate cheapo as **** for a 964 turbo?

1991 Porsche 911 Turbo Coupe | Santa Monica 2017 | RM Sotheby's

I think $100k is about fair value for a 91 turbo with 55k in driver condition and not a lot of history.

That car does not look particularly nice. Some of the panel gaps are just ok. There are chips around on the body. The door sill rubber seals are shot. The front lip needs to be fixed. The car looks rode hard and put away wet.

There are quite a few 965's on the market, many have been there for a long time at prices even higher.

Agreed. If you can pick up those cosmetic issues from the professional photos it will most likely look worse in person. If there is an absence of engine/service documentation it's a major gamble over $100k.

You would need to look the car over. It is hard to say if there are panel gaps or just the pictures playing tricks. At a minimum fixing the smile is easy enough to do and would make first impressions better.

What really concerns me is storing the scissor jack the way they did. No doubt there is damage to the underside of the hood from this. What other stupid things have been done over the years.

Is that price including commissions? There is something going on with that front end i would need to look over. Can't quite put my finger on it. Other than the smile it seems off.

Hard to tell from pictures. there is a white over gray 3.6T being offered by drivers source asking $187,500 https://www.flickr.com/photos/72485679@N02/sets/72157683731852383/

You have to watch these cars closely. This car I recall sat for nearly 2 years back in 2002 or so with no takers for very little money back then. It clearly had/has some issues. No speedlines. Rear bumper is a mess and repainted once before and I am highly suspicious of the vin decals that are on the different panels which don't look quite like mine. (appear to be replacements but can't be sure) Clearly they scoured the car to clean it up and have been in the process of replacing the exhaust which was aftermarket at some time. With what I knew about the car back then I think the price is fair but on the high side. If this were a cleaner example I would expect it o fetch more.

The time has come that cars are being recognized for condition vs just model.

However; the car at Santa Monica was a C2 Turbo (3.2 or 3.3). The 94 was Turbo 3.6 like the one you posted

I am fully aware the original car posted is a 3.3 964 turbo. I was trying to make a point I guess it was not clear.

I disagree. there was a period when people were paying far too much just because it was a 3.6T or an early S. Condition was overlooked. I can site cases of people paying double market value for PTS cars that ended up being *****. If you followed the market closely it is finally settled out and people are seeing the value of the individual car vs the model.
