Should be an interesting data point for 74-74 market.

Not a Carrera. Not getting the BaT bump. Just a 74 with RS spec rebuilt engine.

Sorry, no clue how to make that link cleaner.

maninblack 06-10-2018 10:29 AM

I don't know. Wrong steering wheel, wrong dash, wrong wheels, wrong mirrors, fender flares, and so much more. I don't think it's a good data point at all with all of these mods. Doesnt mean it's not a good car, it's just not going to appeal to a lot of us who love middies and that will affect the price.

maninblack 06-10-2018 10:31 AM

And to make the link cleaner you just eliminate everything after the question mark. Like this:

Mileage is unknown with a fishy story about why it doesn't have orig speedo.

You're talking about it like a collector. This is a driver. It's a data point for a driver. Condition 3 cars is the topic, not collectibles. it's an average hot rod, the kind that might be built in a Pelican's garage. Diy forum and all that.

Matt Monson 06-10-2018 02:15 PM

This should lend some perspective of why I care:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/porsche-marketplace-discussion/964845-car-would-you-sell-how-much.html

It's a datapoint for me. And Toby. And Derrick. And Funky Munky. And a few others around here I am sure I'm missing who own 74-75 normals or Ss with less than perfect history. In that thread last year I am incredulous at $25k for my 74, and then privately someone not posting offered me $35k! We see a lot of relatively not-molested cars and we also see some all in restorods. I'm watching because I own a comp, as do a bunch of the regulars around here.

maninblack 06-10-2018 02:57 PM

Still a terrible comp for the 74 market.

Matt Monson 06-10-2018 03:18 PM

Then don't watch. I don't read every thread here, let alone post.

Look who's panties are in a bunch again. Shocker.

Don't worry. Your girlfriends will be here soon enough to bail you out.

Not in the least. I’m not telling you what to do. It’s a free forum. Your snark comes as no surprise to anyone. Carry on.

I shall dub it Hodge-Podge...

Matt I think the motor will possibly make it a tough data point. That’s approx a $10k upgrade from a stock motor. What are your thoughts?

Matt Monson 06-10-2018 08:29 PM

My thoughts are I'm putting a '74 911/83 on mfi in my car so it is relevant to my interests. When I was at Carquip we must have built a dozen of these RS spec engines. People did it frequently 10-20 years ago when the original engine gave up the ghost. RS p&c were for sale everywhere back then. If the customer didn't just toss in a 3l and wanted to rebuild instead they did this, either on mfi or Webers.

Gotcha cool deal. I need to pick up a motor like this as I need all of the parts to restore a 74 911/83 that I only have the case for

Matt Monson 06-10-2018 08:42 PM

I bought a complete longblock to build out my case. And then I bought another one. I've got a silly stupid pile of parts now. When it's all done I may build two engines because I can't decide what I want. I'm building a toy, not restoring something.

That’s a neat build. I would not have added the power windows and other items. But its someone else’s dream car. To each their own.
I like the MFI 2.7! Cool direction there. It’s definitely a drivers build.
It will be interesting to see if there is any demand for a car like this.

Keeping the red interior would have been cool...

Wouldn't it? My car had that too, but some ding dong dyed the sport seats and rear shelf black and replaced the rear seats and door cards (also converted to power windows, which I am ripping out).

^^^ Mine was Ice Green Metallic, and now it's black with red metal flake... http://forums.pelicanparts.com/suppo...s/pukeface.gif
My 930 was a PTS 924 color, Indiana Red Metallic, and the last guy painted it Resale Red.

I sure know how to pick 'um :D

matt930s 06-11-2018 06:15 AM
