Also, just for documentation reasons for future 935 body guys...the AIR kit doesn't support full 11" rims up front.
This is an 11.5" wide rim with a 315 on it, we're downsizing the outer rim half by 1 or 1.5" to get the tire under the top of the fender. The current inners are 6.5" on the inside of the hub, and 5" outer rim halves. This shot shows the amount we need to downsize, also the huge size different from front to rear. where we are out of the woods with this economy and my wife agrees to a new addition to the car fleet I am going call you and to pick your brain for my next project.... 934! I am sure you have heard it many times, but turning the keys on the finished project is just the beginning of a new phase... It took me another 6 months to get the car how I wanted it after it was finished, and we are still playing with the spring rates and susp geometry... Have fun my friend and keep posting the progress on the car. It's fabolous! |

Those are the exact style wheel fans I have on my DP 935. Just a word of caution though... those fans cause a LOT of brake dust to be trapped between the fan and the front of the wheel, and totally screwed up the finish of my BBS's. I had to have them totally rebuilt/refinished because they were badly pitted. I'd also recommend that you get the mounting points for the fans heli-coiled. My originals were not, and they caused all sorts of problems unti they were. $0.02 |

Motor update: This is what she looks like currently, we're going to convert anything we can to AN- fittings and braided lines and we're looking at doing a high butterfly PMO intake system with a custom intake on top. There are a few things on this motor that I do not agree with, tie wraps etc. that will be corrected and brought to how it should be, right now its appearance kills me. That muffler appears to be a Magnaflow X series. Not the best for turbo flow. You need a short straight through single on each side with 90*s that meet in the middle of the rear and turn another 90* straight out the back. That would give you max power and quiet it down just enough to take off the harsh edge. So cool ... |

Window glass is in for windshield and rear glass, quarter windows go in tomorrow. Front and rear in today...btw with the front bumper off you can see just how wide the front meat truly is :) And yes I know the front rims need switched around from left to right and right to left to get the tread pattern going the right way...its just a roller for now. So cool, don't want to be a downer but are you pushing it a bit with that rear tyre stretching over the rim that much? Just doesn't look safe, especially with the mount of HP you'll be putting through them... It may just be that rim lip that's making it look like that but there seems to be some pretty serious sidewall distortion?

I have to say yes that the tires are at their max, but the inner shelf the tire mounts on is about an 3/4 of an inch wide and with a dry mount is quite stable. The lip on the rim does accentuate the fitment issue considerably.
Once we get the motor in with some weight on the rear it will actually help the tire to *squash* and push it more towards the edge of the rim. We're borderline with them, but the main thing I'm trying to do is assemble the car then approach Pirelli and ask them to build a wider tire for me. But in order to put together my package I have to have an assembled car. Moral of the story, if there was a wider tire made I would buy it...but sadly a 355 is the max. |
Are you planning to purchase more narrow front tires? 275 or 285?
Have you called M/T to see if they can reserect a set of the 18"x26" tires? They manufactured them in the past so the tooling setup exists. Looking good! |
I've sent numerous emails to M/T, no responses. And we're planning on running the 315's up front just shifting them inside by changing rim halves.

Is narrowing the rear rims by an inch or so an option? If the rim wasn't quite so wide, those tires would look even bigger with the sidewalls flush.

Rodrsr: Yes actually, we're probably going to end up doing surgery on the inside rear rim halves to remove an inch of material...at least we'll have the same outers which is the important part and I'll have to learn to live with only 14" wide rear tires...
Jesper, thanks man - the reason I went with these seats is the pair I had before were just SO comfortable and supportive. I was hoping they wouldn't be too ricer or modern for the car. |
