The last series of photos sent to me from the Porsche Club-GB were resized photos except for the color picture mentioned. They do not enlarge well at all since they are about 4"x3" @300DPI. I did send in a request to them about 3 weeks ago requesting if they had them in the original scanned format. They have not replied since that last communique.

I was torn while looking (shall I say crawling around on the floor) between the end result which is a modern marvel and at the same time a unique 964 that is one of the most beautiful Porsche's I know of being used as a test bed. Of course I am biased when I say I think my Cobalt 3.6T is the nicest street Porsche I know of but that America GS is pure sex. That has to be the most perfect color I have ever seen used and it is a shame it can't be reproduced. To me that has to be the ultimate car in either form.

I have to chim in...
I must say looking at these cars now they are a thing of beauty...
They were certainly popular in their day and I find it extraordinary that so many journalists and Porsche fans turned their backs on these cars.... I think most people follow the crowd when it comes to fashion and criticism. That is such a shame. They remain as a bold statement of individuality.... I would certainly have one im my collection if funds permitted... ![]() |

Factory 930SE
This thread references a Factory Slantnose for sale:
Is this guy for real!! This looks like the real deal, complete Werkes1 Special Wishes modification from 1985 including the higher performance engine option as evidenced by the 4 pipe exhaust. Too bad the factory put the steering wheel on the wrong side of the car. The plaid inserts could be made into a nice sport coat. ![]() ![]() |

Nothing new to report. Just checking in and trying to keep the thread alive.
Kycarguy 935, did you hear any encouraging news from PCA regarding the 930S registry?

Wiring problem isn't much to deal with if you know what you are doing- if that is what is listed to be it is a diamond in the rough

WERK-I,
I think you were referring to me when it came to checking with PCA in regards to a registry. I did have it taken up at a national meeting and feedback I got was that they are not against it but there were some preconditions. I am thinking that this summer when work frees up a bit I can start on the process. However, some preconditions I was given were: 1. Need to have a website 2. Need to have many members attend a Parade 3. Need to be able to hold a register event I think these items are doable with some planning.

Thanks for the correction. Interesting PCA requirements. Getting as many to attend a PCA Porsche Parade event would be interesting seeing how there are so few factory slants and we're scattered all over the country. The 2010 Parade is just outside of Chicago. Maybe we could gather in middle America.....

Interesting how many there are just hidden away by owners as garage queens. I'm in the central Florida area and president of my local region. Since the word started getting out that I own one (it rarely makes public appearances) I have run across three other owners within 100 or so miles who are like me. Without my PCA involvement I wouldn't know of any of these cars.....

Interesting requirement that many must attend a Parade. What is many? In what manner must they attend? What happens if the club misses a parade?

Yeah I wondered about that too when I got it but it doesn't worry me too much. If you look at all the other registry's out there I find it hard to believe that they are going in large numbers either...I would think based on total numbers several would more than meet the requirement...

It is rare to see a factory slant nose at any car show. I went to Hershey this year and didn't see one out of all the cars that were there. I heard from somebody they thought one was there but I didn't see it.

Geez...I guess I'd better hang onto mine for a while longer...I was seriously considering selling it because I dont' drive it much...I use the TT as my DD...and the slant pretty much sits covered with a battery tender hooked up like an umbilical cord!!

There was one there IIRC it was black. Left early when it started getting too hot. I know of a couple around.

"slant for sale"
Re: the '84 slantnose you cannot tell from the posted photos if the car is actually a factory Special Wishes car or not. There were european converters that offered the modifications for less money than the factory was charging. It could be correct but no photos of the front, sides, interior, etc.

Okay my theory (maybe wishful thinking but so what).
Somewhere between the late '80's and the new milenium the slant nose cars fell out of favor. It's obvious if you pick up any Pano or Excellence from '88 or so that there were conversion companies all over reproducing the look. It was definitely in demand back then. Common story is that they fell out of favor as a byproduct of the excess of that decade as time went by. Many of the slants that remain are lovingly stored by owners who have either had them for a long time and know their worth from back in the day or always wanted one but had to wait until they could afford one. A few like myself stumbled on them when looking for a 930 and couldn't pass up such a pristine well cared for car. Now, my belief is that enough time has passed for the negative connotation that the look was unjustly stigmatized with to be replaced. I think a slant nose registry explaining the position of these cars within the history of the Porsche marque, a rolling tribute as it were to one of the greatest racing cars of all time can put this car back into a proper historical context. I'm thinking that with the support and passion expressed by slant nose owners we could see a resurgence of the slant nose and in fact a new golden age for them could be just in the horizon. I really think it's up to owners to get that message across. These cars have such a rich and mysterious lore associated with them. You can see the attempt to untangle it just by reading this thread. That alone separates them from the other 911's and 930's of the era. I am constantly surprised when my car goes to an occasional meet or show to hear the response it gets from people. More and more the response is one of approval. Hopefully I'm right but I really think it's up to a group like us to pull it off. Nothing gets the juices flowing like some good pics. What do you say? No I haven't been drinking or on any meds but thanks for asking ![]() ![]()

I do have to ask you where you purchased that slant. When I purchased my slant back in the 90's, the owner, in the Atlanta area, actually had two slants in his garage. The other is the same color as yours. I know this is an extremely rare color. Could it be..........?
