I agree. Six years and a quarter-of-a-million hits later, here we are. Glad and grateful you initiated this thread, kycarguy 935.

Thanks Dave. Outside of my family, Porsche's and specifically 930S slant nose cars are my life. I think about them at least 50 percent of my day...lol

I'm in central Iowa about 60 mile south east of Des Moines. The car is Closest to Lujacks Porsche dealership in Davenport. I am not sure what other options there are near eastern Iowa. Andrew |

Stalltek in Wellman Iowa would be another option....I am not sure they would touch a 930 though??

Thanks Andrew for all that documentation! May I use some of them in my Slantnose Guide .pdf? Still putting the finishing touches on version 2. |

Reading a sidebar in the 1987 Automobile article in my .pdf, it turns out that Special Wishes DID supply BBS wheels (with uprated suspension!) for a cost of $4550. No wonder we see so many factory slants with them. I wonder what they did to "uprate" the suspension?
After reading this, I installed the OE BBS wheels on my '83 slant. Not sure which I like better...should I keep the 16" BBS or put the Kinesis 17" Speedline RS replicas back on? ![]() ![]() ![]()

Hindsight: Thank you for providing all the cool information on your car.
G60SuperCharger: The Kinesis wheels are nice, but the BBS wheels accentuate the 1980's retro look!

![]() My 87 factory slant came with 7 and 9" color keyed BBS wheels. I wonder what the uprated or upgraded suspension would be too. Maybe a thicker swaybar?

To be honest....I do not think there is much to be addressed with the car. It has been stored in a climate controlled garage but since it has been sitting for a while (and I can't get any more specific than that) I plan to take every precaution before starting it up. Also....Who would be capable to appraise this car for my ever inquiring insurance agent? Andrew |

![]() Here is the car as it sits now.....still wearing it's European delivery plates (and a layer of dust) ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I talked to Lee at Stalltech in Wellman Iowa, he is going to put me on the schedule for later this spring. Andrew

WOW! So this is a US Spec 930 which did 5340 miles in europe (Euro delivery program I assume) before being shipped to the US? It appears to be never plated or driven in the US! I'd love to hear the story behind this car and how you ended up with it, but I understand if you need to be discreet.

Now that the deal is done....I don't really need to be that discrete anymore.
This was my Dads car, he was a fairly well known collector of 60s Corvettes, Daytona Ferrari's and Various muscle/race cars. This car has been in a climate/humidity controlled garage all of its life. The car was delivered in Germany under the European delivery program....it was driven there for about 3 weeks and then shipped to the USA. When it came to the USA, it was purchased by his Exotic auto dealership (It's what you do when you have 20+ cars). The car was not driven much here in the US....He kept the European plates on it because he liked the look....the dealer plate was usually in the back seat Part of the reason for the low miles is that he bought a 1990 ZR1 shortly after the Porsche....which turned into the "flavor of the year".He passed away in 2007 and slowly but surely the collection has been sold off. The dealership will be liquidated soon as well. I stepped in on this one and the ZR1 as they were 2 of the last 4 cars left (I hated the idea of them going up to auction right now). The family agreed to a "package deal" so everyone wins. He was a sharp guy when it came to picking good cars, he knew what boxes to check and what colors to pick....researching the history has been a lot of fun as well. I have magazines and brochures with his hand written notes, letters to the Porsche reps about dimensions of the "cargo" areas and details on European delivery (he was no stranger to this after buying 2 Daytonas in Modena in the previous decade). I even found some of the Porsche fitted luggage pieces that he bought to maximize storage during the European trip. I still have a lot to sort through and will share freely as I learn more. BTW: I am forever indebted to all those who have made this thread what it is....the education has been priceless! Andrew

No one "abandons" a car like this, so surely there is a backstory. They state in the article that the car appears to have been sitting for around two years. Possibly the owner is deceased, maybe is deployed military, or possibly the car was stolen.. get a serial number and track last registration through proper channel. I think it irks me so because I store one of my cars in a parking garage near my job, I've had the car cover stolen so everyone gets to see what it is. No problem. It was towed once because the "new" management company thought it was abandoned.. they clearly now no it is not.. although I do get the occasional note from the security patrol stating car is abandoned. I turn the note over and leave a few facts for them like, "how could a car be abandoned with current tags" just because a car doesn't move for months, that you know of, doesn't mean its abandoned," and lastly, " the physical harm that will be inflicted if I happen to show-up and find you or anyone else tampering with said vehicle!" I've received a couple of response notes saying "I see the car sitting all the time, I'm new, sorry."

![]() But some of the people who think they've discovered a car and post such as the guy in the link.. read it, and read some of the comments. There's another similar story w/a video out of Canada I think where someone thinks they've discovered an abandoned Carrera GT. Yes, its been sitting awhile, dirty and tires low.. instead of hovering around some guys (distressed?) and posting it online.. why not be pro-active and wash the grime off the thing, pump up the tires with an air tank, and leave him a note with your number before putting on the car cover that you purchased for him? I'm just say'n. As for you, great story and nice car.. glad you could save that one for yourself and look forward to you getting it re-commissioned and on the road!~
