I took the rear wiper off mine recently too. I've never used it but i know some people do.
I wouldn't want to be without AC either. It's too hot and humid most of the time in S. Florida. |
when i was driving mine every day i used it quite a bit. humid here and widows almost always fogged over in the morning.

It all started with, " I don't think I have a BOV". While I was waiting for the 965 elbow and bov, I sent the k27 to Turbo Kraft for a rebuild, removed the exhaust so I could take all the smog stuff off, installed a K&N filter, oil breather/catch tank, welded a 1" pipe on the back of the i/c for the bov, and installed a new sound pad. Since I had the bumper off, I removed the big over riders, welded the holes, and painted it. I left the skirt off for now. Back on the road today.

I've slipped way down the slope. Car had about 105K when I bought it (a little over a year and a half ago) from the second owner. Engine had been out once for clutch replacement but nothing else was done while they were "in there" - not even any new seals, so you have some idea as to the amount of oil and oily sludge that had built up over the years.
Started by ditching the 3LDZ and going with a K27 upgrade from Brian (Rarlyl8), along with a set of his headers. Had the other Brian (Leask) prepare my WUR, bought a Borla muffler from a fellow member and called it good for a little while. Didn't want to go too deep, as I wanted to get a good season of driving in before getting too far into things. Car seemed to run great; smooth idle, pulled strong etc., but I could sense it wasn't giving all it wanted or what God had intended it to give so I began to contemplate a top-end rebuild. Began by buying the necessary seals and gaskets and setting them aside until I could find a reasonably good time to take my car off the streets for a couple of months (something I really didn't want to do). Figured this would be a good time to upgrade to a better street cam, so picked up a set of Web Cams' SC grind cams and added them to the parts pile. That should about do it for a nice, streetable 930, right? Right. Right, that is, until right about the time one decides that some modern engine management would help streetability, at least from the tunability standpoint, so I started compiling some more parts; 3.2 intake, injectors, Autronic ECU, MSD DIS-4 Plus CDI, some sensors and phenolic spacers from Turbo Kraft, full-bay intercooler etc. Then figured that if I really wanted the ecu to control things, then going distributorless made sense, so turned in that direction. Finally pulled the engine and got things apart. Found some expected issues (four broken compression rings, two broken oil rings, but also found something very unexpected; no broken head studs. Could this be the only 34 year old, 100K+ mile 930 whose Divilar studs were intact? Anyway, got everything apart and was about to deliver the heads and P&Cs to the machine shop when it occurred to me (for about the thousandth time) how little sense it made to not split the case and go for the Full Monty. So, what the hell, I split the case and delivered it, the crank and rods and the aforementioned stuff to the machine shop a couple of weeks ago. Then decided last Friday that it only makes sense, as long as I've gone this far, to twin-plug the thing. So I called the shop and told them to add that to the list. Bought another 6 coils (going C.O.P.) and the associated connectors and will probably pick up another DIS-4 (although some say one will do the job) in the next week or so. While I wait for the machine work, it's hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours and hours of cleaning and painting and, well, more cleaning and painting. I'm hoping to have the car back on the road August, but I'm afraid that's a bit optimistic... |

Or I might sell it. They usually sell for around $150 with or without the arm if someone just needs the motor part. |

Easy to remove, just a few fasteners and a hex nut on the shaft where it comes up through the wing. Pull the fuse for it, too, and tape off the wires keeping them separated. Fogging or condensation -- Rain-X is your friend. |
Hello everyone I picked up my 930 yesterday from Dawe's Motor Sport and my car is finished. A quick recap Jacob and I rebuilt motor 3.4 L that basically suffered from improperly tuned motec m48. Last week the car was finally Dynowed and tuned http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1400735300.jpg
The numbers were great with 423 wheel hp and 431 on torque. This was performed on a Mustang dynamometer which happens to be conservative 20 percent but not to brag I'm really hoping for reliability and some great driving with my fellow pelicans at Turbo Palooza. Thank you again to Jacob and Chris at Turbo Kraft as well as Dawes Motor sport. Awesome John! Such a long time coming. I'm happy that it is finally on the road again. Many years ago before we tore your engine down, you were disappointed with the car's performance. What about now? How is the drive?
For context - the teardown January 16, 2011 http://asbury.smugmug.com/By-Land/My...DSC_5395-L.jpg 930 "yard sale" http://asbury.smugmug.com/By-Land/My...DSC_5433-L.jpg Piston damage http://asbury.smugmug.com/By-Land/My...DSC_5432-L.jpg http://asbury.smugmug.com/By-Land/My...DSC_5445-L.jpg |

I removed my rear wiper also in changing to extended tail. Basically just left it on the stock lid in this case. R & R is fairly simple. |
That's Awesome, John  Your car is really clean, I saw it at the shop !
|
John (citrus)- congrats on getting it all back after such a long layover. Jacob, you're becoming like a midwife. Lol
Any details on the air filter setup in your pic? Not the typical K&N sitting on top of the air meter... What sort of elbow are you using to get a more cylindrical filter on there? |
John!
