Nice car...are you doing an original resto or are you keeping the Ruf stuff on? I vote to keep the RUF stuff on and add some original early turbo sport seats...

I donīt have original parts, so currently will continue with Ruf parts.
All paint was soda blasted away, and some base paint is here. No accidents in body. Prepairing to move engine+transmission. ![]() ![]() Engine removed ![]() |

Cool project/car.
I didn't think soda would remove paint?

RUF has a couple meanings for this car. Wow. Glad you have the skills and determination to bring it back as it will sure pay for itself now! A couple years ago I could not imagine doing a full restoration with any hope of getting my money back. Very fortunate you are with your purchase timing.

Your car is almost identical to mine with the bumper upgrades,
with the exception your roof is intact lol DIY resto is the way to go otherwise will cost a fortune in labour, Keep taking the pics when your finished its great to look at before and after. Im doing mine anti clockwise lol, In about 6 months ill meet back where I started from then shes on the road where she belongs. Good Luck !! with the restoration I wasted too much time with mine trying to figure out what goes where In the end it will be the best feeling ![]() ![]()

This have also RUF oil cooler in front of the car. Car was orginally sold in Germany, but shipped to Japan. Who have put RUf parts in this car, i have no idea.
Base paint in engine room ![]() And this engine room is painted by me. Body painting is made by professional. ![]() |

This is going to be nice. I love to see neglected cars brought back to life.
Are you going to swap out the tail for the early model? Be good to paint all at the same time plus give a clue that it is an early 930.

Engine was running , but not well and lot of oil came out from exhaust. Low oil pressure on idle. So i split the case.
![]() Crank have scratches. So i bought another. Luckily 2.7 have same as this 3.0 turbo. Soda blast for cleaning. it is like new ! ![]() |

Pistons and cylindersare ok. Cams are worn out, and turbo have damage. Valve guides are worn. I found nice set of used rebuild turbo heads. Old heads to box and "new" heads under work.

Are you planning any changes to clutch/flywheel? Lighten up that rotating mass can make a difference in responsiveness. At least it did for me.
Sounds like a admirable project. |

Me too, lightweight flywheel and aluminum PP does make it a spirited rever.
