930 Clunker Club

Looks like our tech forum has been reduced to a showcase of garage queens for sale.
I'm happy for the collectors who are seeing their investments gain value, but it is a sad day for the enthusiast. These cars were built to be driven. The silver cab I posted in the Recent Sales thread became a tremendously enjoyable driver for the owner. I'm guessing now it has been pulled off the street and mothballed which would be a real shame.

So how about the guys lucky enough to have driver quality 930s? You get it all; your car has appreciated in value but not so much that you are scared to drive it. The miles are already racked up so you can let 'er rip!

Lets see those weekend warriors that look the business and are still a hoot to drive - the way it was meant to be! High miles means a LOT of enjoyment has taken place!

I completely agree. Cars are supposed to be driven unless they are a museum piece. I drove mine regularly and spiritedly until I seem to have lost a rod bearing which will be this winter's and early spring's project. fyi-I put the factory fuchs back on. This is with 17" wheels.

Looks like snow this weekend. Doesn't look like I'll get another drive in for a few months.

Drove mine yesterday for a couple hundred enjoyable miles. Car's got about 106K miles on it.

Running the Targa California this past spring.

What a great thread. I yawn every time I open the notable recent sales.
I will admit to being biased as my car definitely falls into the clunker category.
I wouldn't have it any other way though.
I'll get a pic posted asap.

clunker may be a bit strong, but I appreciate the idea.

my Mutt now approaching 75k miles

missing snorkel headlight washer front and center...still haven't gotten around to fixing that, but I have a spare (thanks Pete) and I also have the broken pieces of the factory original one that I keep in a safe deposit box along with the original exhaust, distributor, torsion bars, intercooler, bypass assembly, and even the piece of the factory valance that was cut out to make the oil cooler modification.

looks best in motion

My eyes! What a bunch of POS's.....

Just kidding. Rather look at these from an aesthetics standpoint and knowing they're not moth-balled.

IMR-Merlin, love the finish of your beast.

I have trouble walking past mine to the daily driver so I end up driving it most days.
