I recently acquired a set of "reusable" squirters and found them to be "unusable".
The idea is stellar, as is the construction but as to function....not so much.
The factory squirters are designed to open at around 40psi (if memory serves) and these open at around 3psi. A simple spring change might cure this issue but maybe the manufacturer should have considered this fact.
One caveat: I got these new (second hand) and perhaps something changed in transition?

What happen ??? Nobody responded to your email??? I told you to call and you scoffed at me with your “it’s the 21st century email comment”. Stop agonizing over piston squirters and build your motor. Paralysis through analysis. Who needs removable squirters anyway unless your racing.

Henry I read their product summary and they said their squirters open at very low psi by design. I understand the reasoning however I’m sure Porsche would have put weaker springs in their motors if they needed them.

The piston squirters are designed to cool the piston during higher rpm.
The idea is to hold as much oil pressure in the bottom end when operating at low rpm (the pump moves the lowest volume) and then opening to cool the pistons when the most heat is generated.
At 7lbs the oil light comes on. At an opening pressure less than 7lb, the check valve is non-functional.

Nothing changed in transition. What you received is as I received them. No spring change done by me. In fact the plastic ziploc bag that you received, which has the squirters and extra ball + spring in it, is the same one in which they came to me from Taormina

If not happy with them, let me know and I’ll take them back and refund you

I wasn't trying to accuse you of anything. I was just looking for a reason why these valves would be unusable as delivered.
The internet makes it so easy to criticize . I was trying not to call another manufacturers product defective without all the information.
I hope we're good?

We’re good. Just clarifying that I didn’t change anything on them or I would have said so. I too noticed the springs were rather soft but I don’t have the equipment to test them for their cracking pressure

As an aside, I do recall JB Racing has used fully open squirters in engines. Theirs are set screws with a hole drilled in them to provide the necessary precision and stream to squirt the pistons. I’m assuming their approach to this is based on the engines being run on the track exclusively. So therefore they rarely run at lower rpms for an extended time, which lessens the concern for reduced oil pressure down low

Adam notified me parts will ship this week. I'll update this when parts arrive.

Wow, this thread saved me some money. I was going to try these, but opening at less than even 20 PSI is a no go for me. As Henry said, the priority is the bearings at low RPM.

Another case of if it’s not broke don’t fix it.
