I have used the Precision Machinery Cis-jetronic kit and it was good quality.
The Salvox954 seems to be a new competitor. It was not around back when I purchased my rebuild kit. Looks similar in quality from pictures, but I have never actually seen one.

What sealant do you recommend, if any? Seems to be somewhat of a secret.

I don't think Bosch used any sealant. I have heard that a particular kind of varnish (Indian something?) could be used.

My problems with sealing have been more mechanical than anything - nothing like trapping part of one of the little oval rings where it doesn't belong. But I have heard others probably more dexterous than I am say they have had sealing problems.

If the surfaces are smooth no sealant should be necessary. If you decide to use a sealant, be very careful not to block the small pinhole in the plate I circled.

Thanks Ed.

I have been working on some mercedes CIS models. I have rebuilt a 6 cylinder FD successfully without a sealant.. Its a different animal the main difference is it has an elastomer diaphragm that would be self sealing. Many more parts too. Also, a couple Youtube videos on the rebuild.

I have a spare FD for my 81 sc, with no history and since I can't leave well enough alone, Im going to do a rebuild.

Il go with the Precision Machinery CIS-Jetronic rebuild kit.

Just a hobbyists that likes to tinker.

I think this is the thread you are looking for. See Post 40

CIS fuel distributer cleanout w/pics

I have no opinion on the Shellac use since I haven't used it.

They are both good rebuilt kits and another one from Australia. Some of the works I am finishing:

Take your time and clean everything very well. Make sure it does not leak and pressure test the FD for an extended time. The longer you test it over a period of time, the better for your test. Two down and more to go.

We use a very thin coat of SuperGue for the best results.

Found these guys on the internet......

They recommend Hylomar M.

They have some interesting rebuild kits and they say with instructions. FD's and WUR's.

I made an inquirey.
