Damaged rocker - reuse or replace?
Have been sorting out broken head studs and found some damage on a rocker. It must have happened a while back as you cn see a difference in the polished surface of the cam (it's not scored or damaged in any way - just a different colour). Looks like it was maybe a casting defect.
Should I replace it. If so, do I need to worry about how the replacement will bed in? Does it matter if I use a new or 2nd hand part? Thanks for your help. ![]() |

My vote - replace it. Used one should be fine.
Not an expert, but have rebuilt a few of these.

That looks like a chip. Granted most anything can be repaired - may not be worth it though.

Replace it with a similar rocker.
There are a bunch of different rockers in the used market and new. Some are junk. Shoot for an original rocket of matching configuration.

I’ve never seen such a failure! Is that an original piece?
