Well, after being gone all week, today I took my trans to the carwash for a scrub, and stripped the old jugs off. I'll have my heads back this week (chamfering the squish ring for a bit more piston clearance at the transition to the higher dome) and I'll check deck height next weekend and start putting stuff back together. I'm at the point where I'm tired of stripping and cleaning.

Ed, the build looks great! Off topic, can I ask where you bought the floor tiles and if you are happy with them? Thanks, Mark

Noted above, its good stuff. Got it from their local distributor when he had a sale running a couple of years ago.

Haven't been posting here, but I have been working on it with some consistency.

Got the 1-2-3 side together today. I broke an oil ring yesterday trying to get the cylinders stuffed, as I was in a rush (what I mistakenly perceived as one ), so I couldn't get the other side done. I'm sure I'll end up having to buy a new SET of rings, as I've not seen individual cylinder sets (I don't mind having a couple of compression rings in stock) for 98mm pistons. I'll see tomorrow.

I used 1194 on the cam box to heads this time instead of 574. I'd had the small leak after my last build which always gnawed at me, so I'm a bit paranoid on this step of the assembly.

I made a circlip tool using Stomski racing's principle. These were a beyotch to do without it-even on the bench. They are a bit different than what I experienced last time on the stock pistons and circlips. $2 and 30 minutes well spent!

I was able to buy just the one 98mm piston oil ring, so only a $20 mistake.

Then, the mailman delivered this today:

Well, at least there are less avenues for dirt to enter the engine now! Next up: Cams!

Hey Jordi, let me know. I've got one day in Orange County on Weds, and maybe Thurs, but should be around. That changes all too often though.

Indeed I have. Another good one. Ruby, my garage, beer and cigars. What better way to spend a weekend afternoon?

Hey Ed- good to see your engine build is making better progress than mine. Work just keeps getting in the way! Or maybe I need to replace my Fat Tire and 3Floyds with a Blue Moon.

I have to ask- where'd you get the 3.4 emblem?

I hear you about work, Ed! Although, I'm actually in town for the most part this week and next, I'm just stressed for time.

Got that here.....it is actually a Pelicanite who makes them. I got the 3.2 from him directly several years ago when he did the first run, now Pelican stocks the standard offering and will special order custom such as 3.4 or ??. Probably a month or month and a half wait.

Thanks Ed. It's probably a month before my car's back on the ground. Not too much left- build a complete 3.6 (or have Steve W do it), reinstall entire suspension, rewire for 3.6 DME and rear harness, fab front oil cooler lines, install new nose and new tail. About the only thing I don't have to do is put the rear calipers on, never took those off. Think I'll be ready for MidOhio in May?

Do you recall the pelicanite who made that? I think a 3.2 would be a bit hard for most to swallow now, though it might be fun to try passing off the new engine as "stock."

He's listed in the part description. Good luck on your work. I've got a lot still too. Hoping to be done before I go to Le Mans, at the latest.
