A chisel and a hammer works as long as you don't plan to reuse the nut.

It's in there pretty tight. Get the tool. Then sell it. It will sell like a hot potato.

A rock and a piece of rebar?
![]() ![]() You can use a socket and a 1/2 impact gun to take it off. Just leave the chains and tensioner in place. This method is not recommented for installation.

An impact wrench does this every time.

Consider this alternative... a large socket wrench with the side cut-out to stick a wrench inside to hold the cam. Admittedly a bit "Mickey Mouse", but I've used these many times over the years with no problems.

Is the crow foot expensive?
![]() Compared to the cost of a rebuild... I say spring for the money and buy one. Then sell it if you have to on here or fleebay. When you have the right tool for the job the job is a whole lot easier IME.

Just buy a 4WD socket and use an impact wrench. Off in a matter of seconds.

That was my suggestion to him in PM but I couldn't remember the socket size.
45mm???????? ![]() To keep the chain tight use some vice grips to hold the idler arm firm.

If you put your location in your profile, someone near you might offer to lend you the tool.

Impact wrench sounds brutal. The chains will take a beating as there is little moment of inertia in the cams. On the other hand if it is normal practice it is tempting.
Is there any way to know which tool will I need for my 80SC ? cam nut tool (1965-80) PEL-TOL-P202 or Cam Bar (1980-89) PEL-TOL-P237 I would rather not have to wait for long lead tools
