It will be harsh, but not rattle your teeth out harsh. You will need to do something to counteract the squat that will occur when you put that much power down. In addition to the 30s, you may need helper springs...

You have to go to a coil over set up on the back. Cheapest is a a Rebel or Elephant sleeve kit for your existing bilsteins. Usually you want to run around 150-200 pound springs in addition to the torsion bars depending upon their size... Clint or Chuck will be able to set you up.

Thanks, I had no idea they made sleeve kits

OEM fuel pump vs 044

The 044 pump is nearly twice the size of the OEM front pump.

When I took out the front fuel pump in my '87 turbo and replaced it with a new 044 pump they were both the same thickness but the 044 was about 3/4" longer like yours appears.

You can remove the spacer between the check valve and pump. That shortens the overall length and it fits in the origonal position better.
Porsche also makes a thick rubber sleave with rubber cap that goes on the end that fits the 044 like a glove and quiets it down alot. I think it was origonal equipment on the 964 and 993. Maybe other's had it too.

With the rubber sleave the pump won't fit in the origonal pump mount but you can remove the origonal mount and push the rubber sleaved pump up in between the front cross member and the gas tank and secure it there with a long american made hose clamp.
The origonal banjo fitting fuel line still fits with it mounted like that. You may have to lengthen the wires a little and you wil have to put larger eyelets on the ends to fit over the thicker wire terminal studs on the 044.

I shortened the rubber hose a little between the tank and pump and it fit fine. Found a busted rubber isolator mount so replaced that and I had to use a larger clamp, but all in all it was a nice fit. Under high boost it makes AFRs in the 11s now, so all is good with fueling now...

Captain,

How on earth did you get to test "under high boost"? Might it be some spirited driving?

Enjoy the fruits of your labors....

Clutch Falure

After putting about 6,000 easy non-race miles on this new clutch an inner piece broke off and decide to come out. Luckily it bound up the motor on start up and was addressed before it cause any major damage. I've asked the folks I bought it from if they'd replace it as defective since it hasn't been mistreated and still looks new.

What do you guys think? Does it look defective to y'all?

Wow, that has to be a manufacturing flaw. Let me know if they won't take it back and you're going to junk it, I'm looking for a worn out disc to make a transmission locking tool.

Sure looks like a defect to me. Curious...are you able to get the trans out without dropping the engine on one of these things? I've always dropped them together, but going through all the disconnects if you only needed to do a clutch stinks.
