I don't know if you are stupid. Are you?

What you said was stupid. Here it is again:

Saying that any other shop would "rip off" the OP is stupid. Telling the OP to ignore all the other recommendations is stupid.

So, if Craig can rebuild heads for a fraction of the costs of other shops, why wouldn't you?

Like wasting money? That's the definition of stupid there....

If he charges what he charged me years ago, I assure you, no one can touch his pricing. Even in the magnitude of X's. Lastly, what shop will get your heads Friday evening and have them shipped out the following Monday morning?

Oh, I don't know, seems pretty smart to me.

Wow. Everyone else should just close their doors!

One definition of stupid is thinking that all head work is the same.

Another definition of stupid is picking someone to do your head work based on price and turnaround time.

I have no idea what Craig does when rebuilding heads. Does he do any flow work? What kind of valve job does he do? What parts does he use? I don't know if his work is great, good, just okay, or bad. How much and what kind of experience does he have? How long has he been doing Porsche machine work?

Assuming he does great work and uses the right parts, he may be a great option. But he certainly is not the only great option.

-All spring pressures tested and replaced if out of spec
-Exhaust studs replaced that were missing
-Guides replaced due to mechanical overrev
-Did not do 3-angle valve job per my request

That really tells me nothing and has zero to do with the point I was making.

The point was, and is, that there are many good places to send heads. That you should not tell the OP that he will get "ripped off" if he sends his heads to anyone else or that he should ignore all other recommendations.

Please provide a recommendation if you have one. Please post a warning about a shop if you have one. But don't do what you did in post #10.

Would a happy face plastered right after my "ignoring recs" made you feel better?

Geez....

Craig is an enthusiast who happens to do heads and rockers. I've read dozens that have used his service.

My wife has spent more on her hair in one sitting than he's charged for 3.2 head work.

I will always throw a rec. out for him.........

I also decided to go itbs and weighing in options here whether to build a system myself or get an off the shelf kit with an engine management. I always wanted itbs and this will be a good opportunity to integrate it into my build.

Yes i have the most awsome set of heads for my turbo. If you look several pages back in my rebuild thread below you can see the heads. They were cnc ported, twin plugged, flame ringed, oversized valves with 7mm instead of 8mm stems, inconel exhaust valves, titanuim retainers. welded up the injector notch. Excellent work and yeah it was expensive. he has bunch of heads in the shop when i was there that were being manufactured for the singer engines. He uses his own casting from 3.6 turbo heads to make them.

Berk, here's what I did when I put mine back together after tearing it apart:
Heads, Anchor Atlantic. Bob Hirsch was pretty easy to work with and was in my opinion reasonable.
Cams, Elgin Cams. Demi Elgin was a good match for what I was doing.
Just like everyone else, there are things along the way that come up or you do while your in there because it makes perfect sense at the time.
Although all my stuff was very basic and mild in the way of upgrades, if I ever get another car and I go through this process again, it will definitely be all track minded and would not hesitate to go right back to either of these two guys. I was really happy with the product I was given back and the service I received along the way.
