Gasket sets, any difference?
All inclusive top and bottom end gasket sets. Porsche, Erhling, Wrightwood Racing, Victor Reinz, etc...
Any appreciable difference? Prices about the same... Only negative I saw mentioned was that VR oil pump rubber connector may be too short... Last edited by bpu699; 08-03-2017 at 10:34 AM.. |

I was told by a good friend that Wrightwood gaskets were the best. That's the route I went with. My friend owns his own Euro repair shop and is heavily involved with the early cars. Hope this helps.

I had luck with Victor-Reinz, but going 100% Wrightwood Racing this time.
Apparently, VR had a problem with the oil seals in between the case havles causes the oil pump to cavitate. Uh, that's really, really bad. |

I'll be the contrarian, I used Wrightwood on my last rebuild and have multiple gasket and o-ring failures since cured by other brand gaskets and rings.

Hmmm... clear as mud....
Anyone buy the "Porsche brand" gaskets? Or is that just pissing money away...? |

Is the gasket set for a 930 different than a non turbo? It's the same block and heads, confused... Is the victor reinz only an issue with the oil pump seals? $296. Porsche $400. Oem? $650? Not trying to be cheap, willing to spend money where it matters. But that's a huge price spread... Last edited by bpu699; 08-03-2017 at 03:56 PM.. |
