Actually I justified it by realizing that most of these lenses can be liquidated almost instantly on ebay for 90% of what you paid, which is better than what I've sunk into these motorcycles over the years. And the fact that I live in the center of a place people pay lots of money to come visit from around the world just for the photo opportunities. And finally, because I wanted to learn something new and its cheaper than college tuition was.

Brock's right. After you struggle to drop 2 units into the initial setup, the following units flow so painlessly. I like film, too. Nothing quite like it!

I'll try that too. My wallet was starting to close...
So now I can go back to my Amazon cart and see what I've picked lately.

All this talk 'bout units got me motivated to go out and use some of mine.......too bad the weather is so horrible in southern Nevada this time of year.....;)

I'm now using the same camera. Takes better shots than my Nikon that cost 4 times as much.

I don't know if it really takes better pictures but it lets you be there when the picture taking opportunities are available. Maybe that equates to a better portfolio in the end. When I lug the Nikon gear around its a 22 lb pack now...

Yeppers, that would be the spot.....I am finding that late afternoon during the week is a great time to ride there..few cars, few bicycles and fewer runners, plus the low light angles really light up the rocks nicely.....oh yeah...that curvy one way road is a delight.

Thanks. The last couple were just kind of place savers to keep the thread up for others to post on.

As you may know, the Canyonlands are considered the most remote spot left in the continental United States so there's always lots of wierd stuff to photograph.

The Polka Dot Man is hidden in a valley that few know exists.

Makes you wonder who was roaming around out here back then.

Little people in funny costumes?

Primitive version of photoshop... Probably put up on the rock face by one of his cave dwelling friends, Ancient indian guys face on the body of a fat spotted water creature... No doubt one of Steve Carltons ancestors getting a few laughs.

I thought that was an early Mormon.

On top of Old Smokey...

I woke up from my Mother's Day nap, looked from my prone position past feet out the window to see the sky was filled with smoke.
I decided to ride to the top of Parker Mt (appx 5K') that's right out the backdoor to see what all the huff (kaff! kaff!) was about....trails at the top shown here are nice and smooth, but the nasty stuff was below these...washouts, rocks, rock whoops, etc...no way to stop and take pics there. I was sweatin' getting back down by the time I got to the top and took these...

Someone said Hansen Dam was on fire I guess...anyway, I finally made it to the top.
Oh, and back down too...

Nice backyard ya got there!!

Dan Alexander 05-14-2007 12:18 PM

Wow, the US is in trouble .... between the fires in Cali and Florida .... toss in a few floods and some tornadoes ... what's next?

signit98 05-14-2007 12:23 PM

...a few more 454CI V8 Big Blocks which will be left running while someone is inside the liquor store buying the much needed cigarettes and some more AC's blasting over the summer and all will be fine again!

Not to worry... there is no global warming, and even if there is... the clouds from the smog will keep the rays of the sun from coming through and hence the temperatures should be cooler... right?

At least the politicians around Curious George seem to think that way...

Dan Alexander 05-14-2007 12:31 PM

:)

how about a few more smokers out having a butt and then falling asleep ..... gas truck burning and melting an overpass ... some guy with an anger problem and a gun ....
