...they are fake, I now that, because there are no Dinosaurs in it...!

Oh no, wait... these are about 7000 years old... maybe the Dinosaurs did not exist yet?

Darn... life is complicated!

One of the taunts I used to get from my LawnDart buddies, was, "Oh...the Phantom II, huh? Know what that means? Two engines, two seats....too bad." Or...."How do you do a formation take-off? Call, 'burner, burner....now, now?'"

To give my non-flying friends an idea of the technology involved, I used to explain that the F4 was designed by a guy who drove to work in a '55 Roadmaster. (The earliest production model I ever flew was a '63 model.) So when I saw my first F-16, it was a pre-production model sitting on the ramp at Ramstein, flown in by Neil Anderson their test pilot. It was a collage of improvement everywhere you looked, with much greater thrust to weight, neutral pitch stability, a powerful set of computers that kept the sharp end pointed forward and no canopy bow! A regular Ferrari of the air.

So airplanes, are like bikes. They are all wonderful machines that we should be thankful we can spend time with. The F-4 brought me home with over 3000 hours, 600 of which were in combat, so I thought most highly of it for that reason alone. I'm sorry they're out of the inventory, but they really should be.....last generation technology. I could go on, but I'll spare you all. Since this is a picture thread, this is me with my first combat squadron, the 469TFS at Korat RTAFB, 1972. I'm fourth from right standing.
I still have my 9g pin. I had the pleasure of working with Neil Anderson and Dave Palmer at General Dynamics in Ft Worth. Neil's Paris Air Show profile for the F-16A was unbelievable to watch. To that point in time no one had ever seen a fighter do square corners. His show did the entire profile without departing the airport traffic area and below 3,000' AGL. Flying the F-16 was one of the high points in by flying career. The view from the cockpit is nothing less than spectacular!

That mustache looks a bit out of limits Lieutenant Hancock. lol

Ahh! the Ammerit nights in downtown Korat.

I mean, if it makes you happy I am all for it... but, facts are there to be ignored?

Phew... man, if we ever run into each other we'll have lots to talk about (aside from Spaetzle and German Sausage... )
Deutsches Essen?...You know it Ralf! And a nice ride inbetween meals, aye?

Now about those "facts" to be ignored. As you might guess it will take more than a few words to explain so it's better that I post a link that explains it much better than I. I apologize ahead of time because the explanation is quite lengthy. Please note the many references in the footnotes as well:

This isn't the only source out there but it's a good place to start. There are several others if you are curious why some people would reject the well accepted "facts" that the many are not willing to challenge. In fact one of the places is not far from you.

While you're there you may want to buy this 518 page book - very comprehensive to say the least. I read it over the Christmas Holiday last year when my Nephew brought his copy to me - He lives close by as well, near I-805 and Rt.905:

Oh...forgot to say that I worked on F-4Es while stationed at Nellis, AFB...they were very reliable but difficult to work on when compared to say an F15. I was a Jet Engine Mechanic in the 57th. Thanks for posting pics. The Pima Air and Space Museum in Tucson, AZ has a couple F-4s as well.

...yeah, but you know how the F15 Saga ended, Dan... at least the F4- A, B, C, D, E, F, G... you get the point... they retired in an orderly fashion...

I'll check the book from the library...

Craig, you've got to lighten up bro. There's room in the tent for us all. Putting down a person with a conviction should not drive you to such anger and frustration.

Back to F-4's. The once noble hunter killer have been relegated to a high dollar training aid in the form of a drone in the last years of its existence. It's a sad ending for the "Big Ugly" The last fighter flown by the T-birds that made the slotman stand out due to the soot on his vertical stabilizer.

Using this designation "F-4", and this word "drone", in the same county is not nice. Go directly to the mirror and give yourself a good talkin' to. tsk tsk.

I like to stay away from the Q letter, Bob. I did have some pilots friends that flew the QU-22 out of the Bat Cave at NKP.

EZ I'd be riding "Broom Hilda" my R12RT. The HP is now prepositioned forward .3 miles from the first twistie. It 's a sure preventive measure for chicken stripes.

On the F4, that has got to be one of the best looking fighter jets ever. I never had the luck of flying, as the airforce didn't want me due to my glasses but I always had a weak spot of this one. I once had the pleasure of watching one of these being chased by a NF5 in the Eifel in a dog fight. They were about 100' above the tree tops, popping over mountains into the valley's below turning around each other. Brutal power v small size agility. Amazing sight.

...I have long give up challenging them and their beliefs! If they leave me alone, I leave them alone... peaceful coexistence.

I learned to think for myself at the age of 13... that''s when I burned my bible... after trying to read a few pages...

If I want fiction, I read Harry Potter or Douglas Adams... at least there is some entertainment value there!

However, as we have the right to express our opinions, so has Dan... and he really means no harm, nor does he EVER attack anyone... and if his beliefs make him happy, all the more power to him!

My 2 cents...

I guess that makes him a better man than I am, cause that's something I can't say holds true for me. I have to work on that little streak of mine.

I agree that you will not change peoples beliefs. I only get a little bugged when they show up at my doorstep and try and change mine. Of course where I live now is a little more entertaining. After they walk up the 100 yard-20% driveway and they are out of breath, I inform them they are trespassing and that seems to take the smile off their face but they do go away.
