Awesome find Roger...that pair of NSU Sportmax look extremely purposeful, and dare I say a bit like medieval Armour.

Nice pics too Craig...you're spoiling us as usual.

The local BMWCCA invited our BMWMOA Club to one of their meets. It ended with a ~25 drive through the countryside to a catered meal at a small town museum. Mostly old farm equipment. Very nice and hospitable of them.

And loving it. Wonderful piece of glass.

IS or standard?... f2.8 or F4?

throttlemeister 08-26-2008 09:04 PM

EF 70-200/f2.8 L IS

That's a lens to be proud of! You guys (like Steve Carlton too) can find lots of uses for that type of fast pro glass I'm sure.

Me, I'm partial to the wide angles however. Never have figured out what to do with a telephoto yet.

TM, I got one about 4 weeks ago too. All that I can say is whao! Excellent lens and enjoying it very much. The speed and detail sharpness is amazing.

Enjoy it!

Cheers

Craig, my most used lens is my UWA too. Really love the 17-40L on the FF 5D. Landscapes and telephoto don't match most of the time. However, I like to do more than landscape and then wide angle can get way too short. Try going to the zoo with only a WA or UWA. :) It also works very well for people/portraits, as it has wonderful bokeh and completely makes the background disappear.

Skoeter: yes, it is an amazing lens, isn't it? :)

...just got one as well... but the standard, not the IS... I rarely do that kind of Photography that needs it. Maybe if I become a wedding photographer...!? :D

Great lend, though... now I am looking for a 2X converter and I should be set!

i never thought much about from where you take the pictures you take, but i would have theorized that you did use a zoom to get the shots you create.

surprising, a little, that you must hike up closer to that stuff than i imagined?

...yeah, yeah, yeah...
...nice, nice, nice...

...but...

...post us a couple of your amazing pics ; instead of this lens showing off thing... :p

throttlemeister 08-27-2008 12:31 PM

I would, but unfortunately due to family issues I have not been out much. I have (quite obviously by now :) ) been spending my money on gear, as opposed to going out to actually use it.

A couple of the "locals"
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1219987873.jpg

I make their day everyday. They run down to the fence and go absolutely nuts, the one on the right actually bites the fence during his barking frenzy, every now and then they will accidently crash into each other during their rage and start on each other...funny as...eventually the old fella comes out screamin' at them "Shut up you bloody dogs" heh heh

And there's fire on the mountain, lightnin' in the air

Wow, what the heck is that!?

signit98 08-30-2008 11:55 AM

...a fire, a big one at that!

Was that a prescribed burn in the past?

ckcarr 08-30-2008 01:29 PM

Yes, it was a fire. Lightning strike that smoldered for a day, then blew up about when I was coming home from work.

Fortunately it seems to be controlled or out now.

There was this severe electrical storm circling all around me with little bits of rain. But, as the storm got closer, and I kept waiting for some super lightbeams my tripod started making noises like there were pebbles inside it. And even funnier, if I would lift the tripod up just about a foot it started buzzing like angry bees. Then I got a little zap! from it and decided it was time to get out of there fast. I guess carbon fiber is a conductor.
