I've been mulling over getting a K1200R Sport next year, but with this beauty waiting in the wings I think I'll wait a bit longer. Telelever and shaft drive too. YES!

We're already getting that now from the R1200S engine without the fancy dual overhead cams or any internal components being touched. Imagine what we can do with this thing with some full race mods like sans cat and proper non-EPA approved mapping!!! I am hoping for 130+ at the wheel after some mods.

Still think you'd have to be a hell of a BMW fan to buy this over a 1098, but wow, some VERY impressive engineering in this bike. Bravo to BMW.

No. It doesn't stop my heart either. Even in the shots with the mirrors and turn signals removed it doesn't really do it.
There are too many things trying to grab the attention of your eye. When it gets that busy it no longer looks like a motorcycle to me.

Guess I'll need to see it in person.

This is very exciting. A real rocker over head cam engine in a boxer. With these bikes winning endurance races, and then if they can start being competitive in World SBK, sales should go well and I've gotta start digging in that pile of old moldy money again. Guess the dentist will have to wait.

Looks great, but so does the 2001 GSXR 1000 which it closely resembles from the front :P

i feel like a corporate voyeur! those pics are incredible! not sure I am a big fan of the muffler, and it looks like a replacement version that will fill the space well is probably unlikely. love the blue white color scheme. i think one of the best parts about the R*S series is that they leave room to "personalize" them. this bike looks pretty much "done" so if you buy one, you better be happy to know that everybody else that has one, has the identical machine. love it though, but probably not in my purchase consideration set for quite a while, (I am still waiting for my R12 to be delivered!)

Bob Hancock, this is not a World Super Bike. That 133 HP is somethimg that will meet all emission and sound restrictions in addition to BMW longetivity requirements.

Er ah, the San Jose R1200S sprint bike is already um well up there.

R1200S HP2 Sure looks nice but...

If there would be a 3rd iteration of the R1200S beyond the HP2, call it an HPX, with lets say water cooled Heads, 160 HP, and Chain Drive instead of Shaft, it'd be unbeatable in WSBK because of the obviously superior chassis dynamics of the Boxer Motor / Tele-Lever Front End combination.

Even Better pics here:

Oh my God! No one has mentioned it, and I only got off the plane a hour ago. I leave for New York for a week and look what happens...........no one has mentioned the valve arrangement.

You are looking at RADIAL valve arrangement like MV of now and Rudge of the late 30's.

BMW has gone the distance with this design. Look at those short pin pistons! Radial valves and double overs with slappers.............all dreams have come true. No one will like chasing this BMW around the track or over the mountain..........whichever comes first.
