Is America a great country or what?
Here we banter back and forth about things while people in other countries are barely making it. THE LAND OF PLENTY!! |

That's what I mean about this being a GREAT country. No one is forcing you to buy and ride a bike that doesn't fit your need.
Remember all the rage, whining, yelling, warnings during the 80's when the right was screaming "the gub'ment" was going to outlaw crotchrockets? Now BMW makes one!! |

When I started this thread I was thinking of how we could benefit from a low profile. As in don't have an encounter with the cops in the first place. You never know when some stupid person might over react.
Seems as though I opened a can of worms. |

debate as you want, but leave anything vaguely like name calling and broad stroke labeling and all the loaded words out. Last warning

I had to skip a few pages, but wanted to throw my 2 cents in.
Where I live, in Western Australia, it is now easier to own centre fire rifles after Feds pushed through the firearm controls and confiscation program. And that is what I will always call it, a confiscation program. You can't force me to hand in a firearm against my will, and call it a buy back program. In any event, I already had plenty of rifles before the changes after Port Authur, which I believe is still the greatest killing spree by one person in the world. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie....Oi,Oi,Oi. Recently, I was pleased to see that pastoralists in my state have been given the right to carry hand guns to defend themselves against wild animals. Good on them, I'm slightly jealous. I have been thinking of taking up hand gun shooting again, and would like to own some hand guns. I would also like to be able to carry, and use in defence. There are places in Perth where one can feel a bit uncomfortable at times, with surveys showing that many do not feel safe in some public places. There have been many vicious cowardly attacks on innocent people that would probably have been averted if the attackers thought they may be shot dead. So, to be sure, not everybody thinks like those other Australian posters on here. As to the OP. I'll watch it again, but I didn't think that they ran, but just decided to have a drag. The officer though, has made a mistake, and I believe everybody must be held accountable, and must pay for their mistakes. It's the only way to ensure that people act responsibly. |

OK, watched the video again, and noticed the time jump, so they did try a runner. In such a case, when you give up and stop, even in this country where the cops all have hand guns, I would put my hands up. (They also have Tasers, tear gas, sticks, and many have attitude.)
I still think though, if it's good enough for the cops to have hand guns, then I should be able to have them as well. |

THAT Bubba is what makes the US of A so great. We can differ but at the end of the day we're Americans. Respect of each other and their opinions even if we disagree.

Has not been verified, but
I got the following today and thought I'd share. The punch line is priceless.
"Last Thursday Night Around Midnight, A Woman From Houston , Texas Was Arrested, Jailed, And Charged With Manslaughter For Shooting A Man 6 Times In The Back As He Was Running Away With Her Purse. ~ The Following Monday Morning, The Woman Was Called In Front Of the arraignment Judge, Sworn In, And asked to explain her actions. The woman replied, "I was standing at the corner bus stop for about 15 minutes, waiting for the bus to take me home after work. I am a waitress at a local cafe. I was there alone, so I had my right hand on my pistol, that was in my purse, that was hung over my left shoulder. All of a sudden I was being spun around hard to my left. As I caught my balance, I saw a man running away from me with my purse.. I looked down at my right hand and I saw that my fingers were wrapped tightly around my pistol. The next thing I remember is saying out loud, "No Way Punk! You're not stealing my pay check and tips." I raised my right hand, pointed my pistol at the man running away from me with my purse, and squeezed the trigger of my pistol 6 times! ~ When asked by the arraignment judge, "Why did you shoot the man 6 times? ~ The woman replied under oath, "Because, When I pulled the trigger the 7th time, It only went click." ~ The woman was acquitted of all charges. She was back at work at the cafe the next day! "

I would guess she had a revolver - that's what I carry. If I can't do it in 6, I shouldn't be carrying.

I'm sure they'll be disappointed shred. However....I suspect it's a joke although I wish it were true. I just thought it was funny.

from texas law(copied from defender.net, you should verify through actual statute or legal advice before acting on this information
![]() "A person is justified in using deadly force against another to protect his property to the degree he reasonably believes the force is immediately necessary to prevent the other's imminent commission of arson, burglary, robbery, theft during the nighttime or criminal mischief during the nighttime, and he reasonably believes that the property cannot be protected by any other means." by the way: (Nighttime is defined as the period 30 minutes after sunset until 30 minutes before sunrise.)"
