We're not touchy about our gun ownership. What we're touchy about is people in other countries inferring our society is somehow inferior to theirs because we have a 2nd amendment right to keep and bear arms. Your blubbering about crime statistics involving guns has nothing to do with legal gun possession. The rider in the video that started this conversation first ran from the officer who was the wrong guy to run from because it turns out his judgement is questionable. Don't run from the police and you won't have to worry if the officer is capable of making decisions about the use of deadly force. That's it. It has nothing to do handguns, my AR or grandma's shotgun.

Owen, we are touchy about our rights under the Constitution of the United States of America. The right to bare arms is only one small issue that some of our more liberal americans attack. Our biggest arguements in this country are over free speech.

Sorry Bob, but I'm a gun owning American and I didn't move to Australia.
I believe there needs to be tighter control on handguns. Rifles, shotguns, REAL hunting guns are okay. But this American wants zero handguns, and really don't see a need for any weapon that holds more than 3 - 5 rounds. If you can't hit your target in the first 2 or 3 shots, either they are too fast or you don't know what you're doing and don't need a weapon anyway. |

Is this an off-topic topic?
This chatter is meaningless - until there's a need. Even my very liberal neighbors were at my doorstep when there were riots in LA. And the rioting was a hundred miles away. Politicians would love to make it about hunting and self-defense. They can work around that. But it was written into our documents for a very different reason. And considering who the proponents of gun control were over the last century, no thanks, I'll keep mine.

You're either a strict Constitutionalist or believe it's almost a living, growing document that defines our rights and duties from a federal system in a changing society.
If you claim to be a strict Constitutionalist, you need to read the Second Amendment. Notice the word "Militia". How many of us in this argument are in a "Militia"? |

I lost the battle but won the war. The Supreme Court (decision made by a majority of right leaning Judges), by deciding that the actual words in the Constitution are subject to present day interpretation, is a living, growing document that takes into the decision process, current day situations.
You can't have it both ways. |

Hey guys, debate what you want, but keep it clean.
Leave out the name calling, and defamation of members or other people. Stick to the topic, or get either the whole topic, or possibly yourself, chucked.

My neighbor failed to read # 3 the other day and fired six shots from a snubby Detective Special at a range of 3 feet from a groundhog and missed every time. I'm surprised he admitted it to us.

Yet, I can still buy an M1, or an M21 for that matter, and have it delivered to my door. Legally.

I personally don't have a problem with rifles or shotguns. My objection is to handguns.
I personally don't see why someone would need more than 3 - 5 rounds to shoot anything. |
