Should I sell parts from my 911?
I took a lot of parts off of a mint G50 years ago (< 50k miles). No one in their right mind would put them back....brake system, A/C system, t-bars, chip, cat/muffler, blue steering wheel, etc. They are boxed up....for the most part. I'm gonna let the car go too....eventually, but soon.
Should I sell most of this now....or with the car? |

I would keep it with the car. People like me like to get that stuff, even if it's not going back on.

I've got a whole lota stuff for a SC that I'm NOT letting go. In fact I'm thinking of buying more 911 stuff that I don't need.

Keith, IMHO, at a minimum, the buyer should get first shot at buying that stuff.

Every time I have sold something off my SC I have regretted it....
IF you don't have to...don't. Also, I am yet to see prices go down on vintage 911 parts....

Belongs with the car, should stay with it.
You may find a buyer who wants to put it back as stock as possible and that would make the deal easier for both of you. Put another way, getting rid of it could make selling the car harder.

I think about this from time to time. I have a bunch of OE stuff lying around, victims of various "upgrade" efforts over the years. Not sure my car will ever merit a full resto to OE specs but I have been wrong lots in my life

Ditto. Most things can be reversed back to original, and some value originality over all else. Even if original = worse. If you sell the parts, that buyer won’t even consider your car.

Selling lesser brakes is something no one would ever put back on. The AC system, yea, lots of people that live in hot climates do not consider a car without AC as an option. AC is necessary or essential in much of the country.

In my defense, I would not suggest selling other stock parts like the steering wheel, etc. Someone might want to put stock sway bars back on but I can’t imagine anyone wanting stock brakes over 930 brakes on a common 911 like a G50 Carrera.

For what you’ll get for the brakes (not much) you would be way better off including them with the car. Being able to say “includes all original parts” sounds a lot better than “includes some original parts”. All these little strikes tend to add up. If it were me I’d include everything.

I would keep them. Every car has a story and those pieces are part of your car’s story. As a buyer, I would view it as a plus and would give a few points to seller’s credibility.

I agree with above. My GT3 has a lot of upgrades. I have all the original parts packed in boxes in my basement for the same reasons as noted above...if I ever sell the car the buyer would get first dibs.
