![]() Nice work there, Ted! Hey I think that's a triple trunk Alexander Palm in your landscape photo. Gorgeous when in bloom! I have quite a few of those and also some Piccabeen Palms - same Genus - different species. The Piccabeen Palm bloom is lavender! ![]()

I decided to get a custom made cover for my boat and figured I better look at the trailer that I used to bring it home to my boathouse 4 years ago.
Guy I bought if from told me how he spent lots of time and money working on the hubs etc.. 4 different hubs and the tires are 13 years old. This cover just got expensive. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Replaced my old double doors with a rolling door. Not 100% complete, need to add a valance to cover the track and add trim to the door, and paint but it's working.

I plan on fabbing a steel piece at the bottom which will hook on the end and bottom on the left stop side. On the right bottom I'll fab a small roller that will keep the door inline with the wall. It will lock from the inside. The devil's in the details.

Not exactly the thread for this, but I don’t think it deserves a new thread.
I want a stainless steel outdoor sink next to my grill. Nothing fancy, just a basin and work area, I’ll feed the faucet from a garden hose and route the drain into a nearby gutter downspout. Portland has a combined storm/sanitary sewer system. I’ve been looking for a used commercial unit, but noticed a cheap outdoor sink on Amazon and bought that instead. Oh my God. I haven’t seen anything so cheap and crappy since I was a little kid visiting Taiwan and China in the 1970s. It came direct from China. The base is square section light gauge steel, not stainless, not even as robust as a Campbells soup can, crudely spot welded together, ends roughly cut and deformed. You screw it together but you can’t tighten the screws much as the metal oil-cans. Heck, you can bend the pieces with your hands. Some of the ends don’t fit in the slots but you can just whack them into shape with, well, anything. I used the handle of a screwdriver. The basin and work surface is light gauge steel, again compare unfavorably to a soup can. The faucet might be steel, but it might also be chromed plastic. The drain is aluminum. The assembled sink can be lifted with two fingers. And it’s short, like for midgets. Seriously, there is nothing you can buy in any US store that even compares to this for low quality. I put it together, placed it by the grill, and was so disgusted that I’m not even going to hook it up. Nor am I going to return it back to China. It’s simply going in the trash. I’m going back to looking for a used commercial unit. It’ll cost $400 and be heavy and ugly, but won’t make me feel like I’m furnishing a homeless camp.

Managed to complete the lions share of tape on this fabric job today. The toughest part was getting the tape on the leading edge of the stab and through the transition to the center and up the back. The stab/fin is offset to provide pressure against p factor so getting the tape to transition is tricky, specifically getting equal reveal on both sides..... its a bit like herding cats. Anyway almost done and on to the silver stage.

Nice work as always, Guy! Looking good!
Really nice work on the fence there, Ted. Curious the thickness of your pickets and what you used for fasteners - just for the pickets. Also - those posts don't look like 4x4's. Am I missing something?

![]() This is the garden in front of my garage. The fountain statue is a concrete 6,000 pound, no wait, slight exaggeration, but heavy thing. It is a struggle to pick it up onto the base where the water is, and the pump hides under her base. I had to replace the pump today. It was likely the easiest project I have done in recent times. Just lean her forward and remove the old pump, use new pump, lean her back and done. They still sell an identical replacement. The old one was 5 years old. Every fall I put the statue on the ground, and we drain the part that holds water, and the pump goes on a shelf in the garage. After years, I can R&R the pumps quickly. Super easy project. Wife is happy, and I am a hero. ![]()

Continuing Thread: What Are You Fix-It'ing Today?
Anyone here “Fixin” old upholstery or making their own? I just was shocked into reality when I asked a local shop for a quote to make some basic cushions for our VariEze. I am not looking for free or a bro deal, but when he said….. “at a minimum, your looking at it just starting at $2000.00”.
I had to try very hard not to show my “WTF-face”, said thank you, that gives me a starting point and quickly dashed back to my car. What it’s going in, front seat and rear seat. ![]() ![]() ![]() Per the plans, ![]() ![]() ![]() Might need to start looking for a good used commercial sewing machine with all the accouterments.
