Well, he started an interesting thread. His commercial will be left in the dust.

My work truck was totalled while parked in a lot facing the street. A girl comes out of McDonalds turning left crossing both lanes in the wet, spins out, hops the curb and hits 3 cars. Took the grille with lights and all completely off my truck, did some pretty good damage to a Camaro parked next to me and ends up in the side of a Ford Ranger.

My insurance never got paid by hers if she had any. Cops showed up right away because she also did some damage to some public property. These ******* clown cops would not let me get her info saying I had to wait for the police report that would be available in 3 to 4 weeks. Her father was there within 10 minutes and she went off with him as the tow truck was just getting there to haul off her totalled Grand Cherokee that was straddling the sidewalk.

I don't hate cops but I hate the PD. I won't go within 15 feet of a cop if I can help it.

Yup. Once in the 944, guy came and found me. Insurance from that subsidized the complete restoration. 🤣🤣🤣

Our DD ford got hit a few years ago, no note. Was going through the claims process when a week later a note appeared on the car. Got the lady to fess up and pay for it.

Yep, when I was living in an apartment complex. Also go my cassette stereo (this was the early 90's) stolen 3x in 2 years. Got a parking ticket in a 1 hr time zone, was there max 5 minutes to pickup lunch. That one cost me $85, to fight it would have cost me a full day pay. No thanks. Just another unlucky tax to pay.

After doing morning-afternoon school w/full credit load, plus a heavy duty part time day job, I was taking an extended blink in front of work before doing another 5-7 hrs of loading trucks into the late night.

Bonk! Some woman lets her door swing open downhill into mine.
I roll down the window to talk to her.
"It's not my fault, the door did it on it's own." she cries while walking into the building.

Oh leaving the scene of an accident. Okay. I go back to sleep.

Bonk! She does it again getting back in, and quickly drives off.
I probably might have otherwise chucked my change jar at her but my supervisors were standing outside in the doorway.
SFPD were worth crap anyways.

Only the red ones:

Hit while parked in DTLA, 20 ft. away from a Metro guard shack and all caught on video. Hit and run. Guard only got partial plate and not readable on video, (headlight flash at night too bright w modern LEDs),

Did I mention the red ones? Actually, all of our cars use to get hit when I lived in Beverly Glen canyon back in the day but my Saab was the worst one. Here it is, safe in the driveway:

And after leaving it on the street one too many times:

My first thought as well. 2 posts + red ricer + spam.

Yes, I have been hit once while parked in front of my house. Nice visitor to our across the street neighbors backed out right into my drivers rear door. At first I was livid, but received a note and they promptly paid for the repair. Guess I live in a pretty good neighborhood. Didn't really bother me too much since the car had been hit in the right rear corner and a pretty significant front end tag during a snowy winter.

Yep,

Wife had the Cayenne TT parked at REI recently and got drilled. Not once, but twice. Driver fled quickly. Thankfully REI was able to provide the rather entertaining video footage. Helps us greatly as we live in Canada and the damage was in WA state...

Cheers

One of our local PCA members had a 924 he bought used when he went to law school. It was brown and he even called it the cockroach. It was still his daily driver. It was parked in his driveway close to the house. One night about 2:30 AM he heard "the cop knock" and looked out to see a sea of blue lights. The cops were there arresting a drunk that had driven through two hedges, and t-boned the 924, and pushed it into the street. It was a total. If the 924 had not stopped the drunk he likely would have hit the bedroom where his son slept.

He got a copy of the police report, and the drunk was of course driving his mom's car after many DUIs with no license. He wrote a letter to the insurance company on his letterhead and made it clear that the 924 was his beloved car and how his son cried when told it was gone. All true! The insurance company evidently looked up the price of a 944 Turbo, and not a 924. They made him an offer that was totally acceptable, and he took the money.

He did take his wife, daughter and son to the impound lot to retrieve his personal items from the car, and he took the shift knob and the steering wheel. They had a little memorial service and said goodby to the 924. The car went to the scales.

He replaced it with a 944 that became he new daily driver. Just last month his son turned 16 and he will start driving the 944. He knows just one ticket and the 944 is parked, and he is taking great care of it.

My bright red Espace, only a year old then, got hit in the door when parked on a residential street. It was obviously done by a towball, as it had punched a hole clear through the sheet moulded composite skin, and then as the arsehole moved away it had torn the skin clean off the frame. No note of course.

Not parked in a parking space, but once stopped at a red light. My wife and I were in a Ford Excursion stopped for the light and a woman who was talking to her daughter (in the passenger seat) and not paying attention managed to ram her Chevy S10 Blazer into the back of the Excursion. The front end of her car was totaled and the Excursion had a dented rear bumper and one bent bottom door hinge. She had to be towed while we went on our merry way after doing the Police thing. Size does matter!
