Printers that connect to iPhones

My wife wants me to research printers that connect to iPhones. I'm not an Apple guy at all. Any help from the collective would be appreciated. She says they've improved a lot in recent years. I didn't even know about 'em.
Thanks for helping educate an Apple ignorant old guy.

Look for AirPrint compatible printers. I used one for the very first time a few days getting pictures printed at CVS. It worked really well. It's certainly better than my 7 year old WiFi printer that loses connections all the time.

Thanks Neil, I think she's talking about one that connects via a cable though, not wifi.

Air print is the magic. If you have more than one wireless router in your house, you need to make sure your iPhone is in the same network.

We have a Xerox 6027 and it works great.

She's thinking of this for our son and his family as a Christmas present. He's got more RF happening in his house than I like to think about. I'll let him figure out how to get it working. I just need to know that it can work, if hooked up properly.

I haven’t used a cable to connect a printer for years and I’m not a tech guy. It’s just easier to ditch the cables since we now have so many different types of devices. Bad for Best Buy.

AirPrint is incredibly handy, we use ours all the time. Money well spent.

I think just about every printer being made nowadays (within the last 1-2 years) has air print built into it. There is nothing you need to do with your phone. You hook the printer up to your WiFi network and it auto populates on your phone as an option when you try to print something. The version before air print was a little different as you had to have an app on your phone that you had to go through to print, but thats older technology now.

Our $50 Canon printer connects via wifi to the home network. Shows up on any device using wifi. Easy peasy.

Of course the ink cartridges cost $30.

I bought a color laser printer - scanner - fax - copier that does Apple Print. It was cheap, and the new toner cartridges are cheap. My wife can sit in the living room with her iPad, and print a file with a few simple steps.

If you want to print from an Apple device, for sure get a Apple print ready printer.

This is a subject near and dear to my heart.
I’ve always had hours of frustration with home printers, esp. Wireless.
Until these new generation AirPrint etc. ones.
They finally are easy for a non-IT trained person.
It works with iPhone, but also all other computers, tablets etc. that are tied to your WiFi router.
A modern miracle!

And as a bonus, as GH85 points out, the modern toner cartridges are much less expensive than in the past and print a lot of pages.

I bought this very inexpensive one, it’s been perfect for me. It printed hundreds of sheets and I’ve still not changed the original toner cart. It’s been a couple of years, so there’s probably even better/less expensive ones now.

I checked and our current Canon printer has AirPrint on it.
I've asked my son and daughter-in-law what model printers they have. The list on the Apple site is mighty long, so maybe they have the capability already.
My wife is not the most technical person, except for dealing with her computer driven sewing machines at which she accels, much to my amazement. I am looking into the tiny ZINK printers as I THINK that is what she has in mind for the kids.
I appreciate all the input here.
Anybody using a ZINK printer?

Have a Canon Color Laser/copier/scanner/fax, does airprint. However, rarely ever print from iPhone, iPad, or computers not to mention scan or fax. In fact, rarely turn the thing on.

I've been scanning and printing to a Brother laser for years. iPhone connected wifi, printer connected cat5 to home network. Don't think I'm using airprint.....
