When pumping gas, at what number do you stop?

Pet Peeve of mine, I have to round up and finish at an even number for amount of gas.

$15.55 or $16, not $15.42 or where ever the pump stops at.

Who else has the same quirk

I used to round it up …..but got tired of splashing gas on me.
Now I just stop where it stops.
Plus it says that on the sign. You must obey the sign!

I used to try to stop at a nice round number long ago when I reconciled my accounts by hand. I have been using Quicken since the 1980s and I just download all transactions pretty much any day I venture out. Click a few buttons, make sure they are my charges and nothing bogus, and click accept. Done in seconds and balanced to the penny.

I quit caring about the price or the amount of gas I buy long ago. I just fill er up, and go. Gas is so cheap right now it is hard to believe.

I try to stop at a catchy number, like $38.99 or $42.22, so when I see it on my credit card I’m pretty sure it was me using the card.

I was on a road trip years ago and I don't remember what state it was, maybe Arizona. Filling up a G body 911 can be a pain at some pumps. It started pumping and it shut off at 2 gallons. I knew it was near empty and I was going to need 18 or 19 gallons. The guy on the speaker kept saying don't top off. I had no idea he was talking to me. I filled up, spilled no fuel, and then went inside to get something to drink. The clerk was mad that I "topped off" and I said I knew I needed full tank of gas and I was not even close to full when the pump stopped that one time after 2 gallons. I left and I have never been back to that station!

In the past, I always just rounded up to the nearest dollar. I think I've stopped doing that in the last 4-6 years. Now I just wait until the pump kicks off.

When pumping gas, at what number do you stop?

Coming from the land of full-serve, this was a pet peeve of mine when gas was right around the $1 mark and before the prevalence of credit cards for everything.

More than once i had to tell the attendant to knock it off when the pump stopped at $20.25 and he wanted to shove another 3/4 gallons into the tank to avoid making change with coins.

Hey gas station tv- got any quick karate tips for this indigent guy holding his wanker and yelling at me from the sidewalk? Nope? Just a Techron ad? Thanks for nothing! Eff' you gas station TV!!!!!!!

Back when I had my old '88 targa, that didn't bother me at all. You could fit darn near $2 worth of gas in after the pump stopped. I didn't try to, but sometimes got the gas right up to the restrictor in the filler neck.
