I am super late to this.
Here's my Glock story: I bought a Glock 19 in 1986 (84?), not long after they hit the US market. Was shooting a lot then, like weekly. Heard how reliable they were, so I decided to never clean it. So the gun went two years without ever being cleaned, and never malfunctioned, before I decided the experiment was finished and started cleaning it like a normal person. Anyway, in about 2004 (05?) the Glock had its first malfunction. In almost twenty years of shooting all manner of ammunition. I replaced the recoil and mag springs, and no malfs in the fifteen years since then. I dunno about other calibers, but in the caliber it was designed for, 9 mm, the Glock is very very reliable. Accessories are plentiful and cheap, most modifications are drop-in DIY, and the guns themselves are not too expensive. As for accuracy, plenty of top competitors use them, and for the average person the pistol isn't the reason you miss. It is black and blocky, not a thing of beauty, but the thing is a beast.

Feel and function are the two most important things for me. Pretty comes in a distant third. I don't like a heavy feeling trigger so that's a high one on the list too.

Bought my first Glock a couple of months ago. The problem I discovered with Glock is there are a gazillion aftermarket parts available
It's insane how much money you could spend. I'm keeping mine mostly stock - it's strictly a tool for me. Changed out the sights and added pinky extenders from Pearce to all the mags. It's a little .380 pocket gun. I wear shorts and a t-shirt 360 days a year so needed something light and small. Put 150 rounds thru it the other day and it was flawless.

Geezus, you had me worried there. I've fondled a lot of VP9SKs and shot one. I've been close to pulling the trigger on one. Never was shopping for a hammer-fired HK other than the USPs I've had.

Most hammer semi-auto guns have a double and single action feature. Strikers are all one pull weight. Night and day guns, but they're all the same if you've never dealt with either.

After holding the CZ, Glock, and Springfield, I'm still leaning towards the Springfield XDM Elite. The feel of the slide release was nicer and easier for me to use than the CZ and Glock. I'm considering the 3.8" barrel. You can get them in 3.8, 4.5 and 5.25. Seems like the 3.8 would be best if I ever decide to carry. Overall length is less than 7" and height is less than 6".

I am a .45 guy and have several but my go to for concealed carry is a HK P30SK with the extended mags. With a spare mag and one in the pistol that gives me 25 rounds. If I can't hit the bad guy with that then I'm SOL.
After I bought the P30 and shot it I came to really like that pistol. Shoots great, light enough to carry and small enough that you can't tell I have it on me. Dave |

The HK is the one I'd most like to find to put in my hand. I haven't come across one yet. Everything about it looks user friendly. Just looked and the price compared to the Sprinfield is NOT user friendly.

![]() Here is my stainless 1911 . . . too heavy and too nice to carry, IMO.

I wouldn't worry too much about the first one... Because you'll buy more.

I'm really not that kind of guy. I buy one and done. I have my 22/250 for varmints. I'd like a .204 or even a .224 Valkyrie but ultimately they do the same thing my 22/250 does. I can afford whatever I want but I'm too damn practical. I look at it as I have what I need. The only gun I own more than one of is my 12 gauge and that's only because I couldn't find a good slug barrel for my old Ithaca model 37 plus I wanted to be able to use 3" rounds.
