If anyone wonders what he's seeing, the answer is corn and soybeans. Hope your trip continues to go well!

Hey now, Iowa has some great things about it....
Now driving through it, yeah that sucks but not as bad as NE on I80... Glad your trip is going well. |

55 MPH, so you can watch the corn grow. Now that’s pride.
Never seen your 968 so bug splattered. Carry on Wolfe.

Get off my lawn!

Anyone that has ever driven I-70 across Kansas to Denver will have seen a lifetime of wheat fields and wind turbines. My brother recently drove from Kansas City, to Denver in his RV. He said they stopped at a gas station and let the dog into to dog park to run around, they got some food and a full tank of gas. Then they drove until near empty, got out and he said it was the same view, and the same gas station, same dog park, and they filled up and started off again. He was pretty sure it was the twilight zone and Rod Serling was going to start talking soon. They did finally get to Denver, but it was touch and go for a while.

Great trip. This was my second cross country - first was in 2010 in my '73 911T.

The trees pretty much disappear around Salina and don’t reappear until Denver.
Near the KS/CO stateline area there is buried stack of old cars visible from I70 acting as a retaining wall in a farmer’s field.

So here's what I came all this way for. To help figure out how to program this machine. 15 minutes into it, the basics were figured out. An hour or so later, the non-obvious stuff was getting sorted. There were a few settings such as wind direction (clockwise or CCW) and others that weren't named well enough to make them obvious. Those were a bit trickier to sort out.
It is now put into service, after sitting unused for two years. ![]() |

Car ran great, no issues. Loved the several tanks of non-corngas, which I do occasionally run in it. Cruised nicely at 80-90mph for hours on end through Montanta and South Dakota. Fuel milage was fairly decent even at those speeds, but I noticed a definitele difference with the corngas tanks I did end up having to get.
Near the end, my right hip started to get pretty stiff. A/C held up very well, too.

No cruise control I take it?
That's when the ol' broom handle comes in handy. That's cool that you got the machines working for your friend.

Its an older CNC coil winding machine. The guy is a competitor of mine, or "Friend-petitor" if you will. We both manufacture guitar pickups for a living. He's used to older mechanical machines like the big green monster from the....60's, probably. He bought the Tanac a couple years ago, but hadn't been able to figure out it's programming. Even for me, it was a bit weird working with an LCD screen. My winders have a nice GUI.
