I drive the Cobra replica in traffic now and then to work. I have even driven it with snow falling on the roads and in the mountains with snow all around.
It is heated in the summer and cooled in the winter though so dress appropriately.

Yea in stock form the wheels aren’t too bad. The stock styling is just way too busy inside and out for my taste and heaven help us all once the “tuners” start bastardizing them and bolting on cheap junk off of eBay... I guess that’s what sells to the boy-racer-wannabe crowd now though. I wouldn’t turn down the chance to drive one but it’d be like that old line about mopeds: “they’re like fat chicks... fun to ride but don’t let your friends ever catch you on one or you’ll never live it down”.
I still can’t fathom paying nearly $40k for that in any case. Maybe I’m out of touch but a car would have to really move me for me to ever pay that much. I remember when brand new S series Mercedes cost that much and it wasn’t that long ago! |

I would take one of these over any Focus save maybe the RS. I have a hard time with the interior on the Focus.

I haven't used my kitcar to commute in more than on a few nice days. Aircon not needed in a totally open car.
I certainly have driven it in the rain, 200 miles in heavy rain at that, in order to get home - over 40 mph that rain doesn't come in at all, but stuck in traffic is a different matter. I have completed in it in snow, one April Harewood hillclimb, a burst of snow blew in down the valley. In all seriousness I was saying that modern production sportscars have become fat due to safety and luxury reasons and as a result have lost the nimbleness and rawness of a true sportscar.

Do you really think someone driving a $1200 1995 Civic is the same profile (and will do the same mods) as someone buying a new $40k Type R ?

I know - those 245-width tires on the Civic are quite wide for a car of that size (if needed for traction for the power output) and the 30-section sidewall gives a little rubber band. My JSW has 225/45-17 tires on it and while not the rubber bands on the Civic, they're pretty short sidewalls for what it is.

I find it looks like they took parts from different cars and pieced them together sort of like a AMC product. Just not my taste.

Not really. Maybe huge, overwieght, unrefined perhaps, unreliable is debatable.
I am sure there are exceptions but in general american cars arnt more gaudy or obnoxious than their competition For every giant winged vented Zr1 there is a GT RS with a park bench and orange decals. A normal mustang is more subtle than a wrx, evo, or many European hot hatches and sedans

There is a newer tiny battery and air filter now, but it could be a plan later on. Good upgrade. That 1990 Civic is probably TBI like my 1989. One butterfly and one injector. Simple and effective. I did make the mistake of buying a 1982 I think Accord with a misfire which was covered in vacuum hose spaghetti like that pictured.

The main reason I changed mine was the small battery was getting old and I wanted one with more capacity. I had just added a couple of power amps...one for the kicker sub and one for the other 4 speakers. Between the two of them...I was right on the edge of not enough.
